Goofer Dust
Goofer dust is a type of powder used in Hoodoo. It is often used by Rootworkers to jinx or trick an enemy in family, money, health, or job matters. There are plethoras of recipes, due to varying intentions and preferences, but common ingredients include:
The word Goofer is the Americanized version of the Congo word kufwa - to kill. It does not kill the enemy instantly, but works over time. The victims of Goofer dust may act Erratic, or Goofy. Eventually after suffering much hard luck and trouble, they sicken and die.
To Lay Down Goofer Dust
This is one of many ways to use Goofer Dust
You may sprinkle the Goofer Dust around an enemy's home, yard, or bedroom. Walk backwards as you sprinkle. This technique has been called 'throwing for someone' those you have thrown for are in danger of sickness and/or death.
The only way to clean the area is by performing a complete purifaction of the threshold.
