Make your own Protection Candle

Ingredients Candle, preferably black, but anything works as long as it is one of those big jarred candles Sage powder Sage leaves Salt Paintbrush Mortar Pestle Water Charcoal Set of stones engraved with the elder futhark alphabet Black Mat Pen Paper Description This candle is a blend of Pagan and Wiccan magickal cultures. I use one on new year's day every year and it gives protection to me and people I love. Spell Casting 1. Carve Protection Runes into the Candle Carve the rune Algiz (ᛉ) into the top of your candle. You can also add Eihwaz (ᛇ) and Tiwaz (ᛏ) for strength and resilience. 2. Make and Apply a Cleansing Mixture Mix a pinch of salt, a small amount of crushed charcoal, and a few drops of water. Brush this over the top of the candle. Sprinkle sage powder or crushed sage leaves on top. 3. (Optional) Anoint the Candle Rub a few drops of peppermint essential oil onto the candle from base to wick for clarity and energy. 4. Create a Circle of Protection Runes Place obsidian rune stones (or drawn runes) around the candle: Algiz (ᛉ) – Shield Eihwaz (ᛇ) – Endurance Tiwaz (ᛏ) – Strength & justice 5. Sprinkle Salt Around the Candle Form a circle to reinforce your ward and purify the area. 6. Speak Your Intention Aloud Say words like: “Be my warrior, cleansed and protecting from the negative energies of the world. Protect me, mother, father, siblings, family, friends. This is my will. So mote it be.” 7. Add Runes for Blessing and Growth Place additional runes outside the protective circle for what you want in the year ahead: Fehu (ᚠ) – Abundance Jera (ᛃ) – Harvest and reward Wunjo (ᚹ) – Joy and peace Berkano (ᛒ) – New beginnings Sowilo (ᛋ) – Success and light Gebo (ᚷ) – Balance and generosity 8. Write a Note of Intention Write: “Please, candle, protect me, mother, father, siblings, family, friends.” Don’t worry about spelling — intention matters more than perfection. 9. Burn the Note Safely Light the paper using the candle's flame and let it burn in a fireproof dish. As it burns, visualize your wish being sealed into the candle. 10. Place the Candle Somewhere Safe Set it on a shelf or wall where it won’t be touched or forgotten. Optional: Set it on a black rune mat for extra power. 11. Label the Candle Clearly Place a note next to it that says: “Do not light until January 1st. Do not touch. Do not move.” 12. Seal the Spell with Words Say: “Now set above, beyond all reach, To guard my home, my heart, my speech. Let none disturb, let no harm be — This is my will.
