So, I have noticed a lot that people often say that the dark arts (black magic) is an "evil" thing and you get bad karma from doing it and so on and so forth. Let me just just clarify a couple of things about the dark arts.
The dark arts is not evil. The only reason it is labeled as such is because of the things you can do with it. When learning about the dark arts, one takes a journey to places in which one can only dream about. You learn all the true possibilities in which the mind can master. You start to open your eyes and you begin to see what has been veiled. Think for a moment, that the dark arts is like the dark side of the force (yes, I am referring to Star Wars). You learn what true powers lie in your hands. You are taught things that no higher being would want you to know. You are taught to unlock and unleash your true powers. Now, it is up to the person who is practice the dark arts to make the right choice. You have the choice to do what is right and what is wrong, but, right and wrong is all in perspective. So really, you are learning to follow your own ethics, and apply them to the world around you. Although I firmly believe that harming an innocent person is wrong, and harming one who has harmed others is right.
I hope this has somewhat altered your bad viewpoints to the dark arts.
I strongly agree with you and its all how you choose to use it. it gets a bad rep due to the media and the human fear of the unknown shadows blessing, cielo

Unfortunately, magick has been separated into "dark" and "light" or "black" and "white", when originally these two "sides" were apart of every magickal practioners knowledge and practice. I agree with you that in limiting oneself to the "light" or "white" side, one is limiting their potential and understanding of life, the spiritual world, and magick in general.
People throw around the word "Karma" and the phrase "three-fold law" far too much. Karma has nothing to do with some cosmic justice that comes striking down on us. Most who use the word "Karma" have obviously not read into the Buddhist religion. And if they don't believe in any Buddhist principles, they shouldn't be throwing around the word Karma.
And personally I disagree with the three fold law entirely. It's as extreme as the concept of hell and sin in Christianity.
"Black" magick can be compared to martial arts. Knowing how to fight and defend ones self is not "bad" nor will cause one to gain "bad Karma". It is essentially learning to protect ones self, take control and only harm when necessary. It is within your good judgement to have the sense to know when using it is appropriate. Martial arts can be a beautiful experience, and so can the darker side of magick. Karma is about living life in a wholesome way and that of cause and effect. But what if you are the effect and another is the cause? No one considers this.
"Black" magick is viewing and using the shadowed side of life. The side most people fear. But excepting, understanding, and using this side, you gain a complete understanding of life and magick. It's the difference between seeing the world as a whole or wrapping yourself up in cotton and running from the shadows. Nature is not all hearts and flowers, and to accept and love nature for all that it is, one must accept both the light and the dark and understand it. Not one deity in this world is all light and love, they all have a darker side to them. Why should we, who look up to divinity discard this side ourselves? Would we not wish to use them and the whole of Nature as a role model?

White Raven, you got it! If only some of the youngsters would take notice of people like you!But most do not really want to know the truth. They prefer the legends!
Hell is another universe to which people are sent if they have sinned, but only in the extreme. Therefore, Heaven is yet another universe inhabited by the Seraphim, Cherubim, etc. and God himself. Heaven is not only a paradise, but a way to enter other universes at your leasure (as is the path to my love).
Want more details? Just ask!
But from what I know, Magick is Magick, not dark nor light. It is what you do with it.

Thank you all for your words of praise and agreement.
Magickor, I make no judgement on other people's religious choices. That is a personal choice and not mine to make for others. I personally look to nature for my answers. I feel that the Christian concept of hell and sin is too extreme and does not coincide with what nature represents therefore it is not something I agree with.
I know all too well about Christianity. I went to a Protestant, Jesuit, and Catholic school during my childhood and adolescense. And I debated every religious teacher/professor I ever met, and aced every religion class. =)
