I’ve seen a lot of posts in the forum with people complaining that they feel something is off spiritually. And it’s affecting their spirit work. Well you aren’t wrong. Something is off. But there’s nothing to worry about. This happens 3 to 4 times a year. It’s an astrological phase often referred to Mercury in Retrograde.
What does it mean?
Mercury slows down, and appears to move backward or in retrograde. It's an optical illusion. But astrologically has an effect on us.
A highly objective and truth-seeking planet, Mercury rules intelligence, education and truth. When it is in retrograde, some of its power is held back. Gemini and Virgo are signs ruled by Mercury, so those of you born under these signs will be complaining the loudest. Industries ruled by this planet--sales, public relations, advertising, publishing, mail, transportation are vulnerable to this planet's strange behaviour.
During this time plans go for a toss. You miss appointments, your electronics crash, things get lost, cancellations, misunderstandings and delays seem almost unavoidable. It also affects spiritual and spell work. Mercury also rules speech. When it’s in retrograde, people sometimes say things they don’t mean. If you experience a break-up during this time, take a wait-and-see attitude.
Why does this happen? It’s not fair.
I know it’s painful. But sometimes to move forward you need to take a couple of steps back and reconfigure your plan. It’s a time when you look into things that you've been ignoring. Mercury forces us to fix what’s broken by making us reflect, reconsider and reconnect.
Mercury went into retrograde on the 20th of October 2013. Why am I facing difficulties from the beginning of the month?
That’s because of the shadow zone. Mercury entered into the shadow zone on October 2nd 2013. It will start to station direct between Nov 1st and 10th and will be out of its retrograde shadow by the 20th of Nov. Means difficulties will start to ease off in the first week of Nov. But will only be back to normal after the 20th
Benefits of Mercury in Retrograde
Since it’s a time for reconciliations, you may bump into an old friend and find what you’ve always been looking for. Reappearances are common during this time. It’s also a good time for closure, dressing old wounds and clearing out what you don’t want. People born when Mercury is retrograde grow up to be more spiritually inclined, they think deeply and often become philosophers.
Are there survival tips when Mercury is in Retrograde?
Yes there is. Take a look.
Don’t panic and don’t fight it. Even though frustration levels will be going through the roof, you’ll only make things worse if you go crazy.
Meditate, contemplate, ground and centre
Back up your data system and be vigilant with your things.
When traveling, leave early and allow for extra travel time. Double-tape your bags, count your belongings, Re-check addresses and reconfirm appointments.
Try not to start new things. The natures of things are likely to change dramatically once this phase passes. However if it’s something you’ve tried to kick start in the past and failed, then the forces will work for you, rather than against you.
