drawing a circle

Now another question, How do I draw a circle and with what tools. I would like to call upon my animal spirit. I don't know what it is and I'm really curious to find out what it is or if I even have one. I am a lover of all animals but I do have a house full of cats and I'm not sure if they are my animal spirits of not. Can some one help me please.

There are many ways to cast or draw a circle. A lot of methods are dependent on a specific tradition, if you are following one, or your own opinions.

Basically, the purpose is a means of creating a sacred space in the mundane world. Some people may have an area set aside for this sort of things, but most practitioners use whatever space is available for a working.

Some people will sprinkle salt, or even have a dedicated rug on which they have drawn a ring or a more elaborate circle. At the opposite end of the spectrum are the many, many people who simply imagine. They may go through motions, as in pointing with wand or fingers, but there are no literal markings. Some may choose to lay out a string or rope. The options are basically limitless. Candles, objects representing the elements or cardinal directions, all of these things are a matter of tradition and opinion, and how elaborate you may choose to make the effort.

Most circles are cast starting at either the north or east, again, related to tradition or opinion, moving around or turning to face, all four cardinal directions to outline or consecrate the circle. Some may choose to invite spirits of the elements, angels, specific entities, or just acknowledge the directions or elements.

Generally the practitioner must remain inside the circle during the working, after which the circle may be withdrawn, dissolved, or otherwise undone. If salt is used, the floor may then be swept and cleaned up.

That is about as general of a concept as I can come up with off-the-cuff. There are so many variations for casting a circle that it may be better just to do a search on this site, and elsewhere, to see what seems best to you.
