Tarot is not about methods.Tarot reading is used to get an insight on things in your everyday life.
First of all before you just buy a tarot deck you need to know the different types of tarot cards are out there and which one would better suit you.To give you an idea in what I mean a few of the deck types out there are:
oracle,angel,gypsy,gothic,etc.
You need to choose a deck in which you feel comfortable using.A deck in which pictures on the card that wont creep you out or distract you to much.
Secondly after purchasing your cards you need to get accustomed to using it.Practice shuffling them any way you like.Get books on tarot reading,look up different spreads.Practice using friends or family.
Thirdly when doing a tarot reading dont focus on your deck of cards.Nope focus on your question or if you are doing a reading for someone else focus on there question while looking at a picture of them or that they like.
you don't have to do all of that just focusing on a persons question is enough.

What you should understand before you attempt any reading however is that magic is all about energy.When doing a tarot reading you are making a connection of sorts with a person if it is someone else or if it is yourself you are looking deep into your own subconscious mind and connecting with a higher power of sorts to get your answers.
Now that's my own opinion that you connect to the world and everything in it and the cards are just there to help you interpret what the universe is trying to tell you,what your subconscious already knows and you dont get.In other words the cards are just there to provide a bridge for you to your own subconscious and the world around you just like magic.

I have some acquaintances who claimed to be possessed by spirits after playing the tarot.. isnt that creepy?

My shuffle system is unique. I shuffle three times, cut the deck three times, and repeat that twice more. So I end up shuffling a total of 9 times and cut the deck 9 times.
