Obviously you didnt get it when I said it last time so I guess I have to say it again: Ahem, Get over it. Not everything is going to fit you. The bible wasn't created as a tool of control, however, over the years it has become that. When it was originally created, it was a good book. but due to translations from Culture to CUlture, some words got askewd. Then in the 1600's, words from the bible were changed to a whole nother thing. Not only that but they left out some books of the bible. They just recently added that on. So you have some books that still might not be in the bible.
Okay, let me put it in simpler terms Joey, The bible will only control you if you let it. Its a simple book really. If you live your life free of sin or if you repent then you shall go to a promise land. You have to read between the lines in the bible. It has hidden meanings. Such as praise no god before the Lord. What about after you praise the Lord? Most people dont know that so they read it as only praise God.
umm trav i didnt read your post and you have you opinion i have mine. and faust your damn religion isnt the only one in the world so stop basing things on christianity and open your mind a bit to other religions
The best argument I have heard was in a forum I read when looking up demon hunters. Another 15 year old was claiming to be one and see them, and having the power to defeat them thru magic. One response was something like even if you do have the power, then its delivered from satan, you cannot defeat demons by any other means then god and Jesus. If it seems you can, then satan is just putting on a show for you, if anything to allow you to discredit christians and catholics and pull others down with you. Which seems to be whats happening.
I agree that if you have a religion you should follow it completely or its meaningless. Christians do what they do because they believe others will suffer forever for their sins, in hell, and they want to prevent that, even if it means force, because they love you apparently.
Joeypalz.. you are being bias in your comment.. ^_^ and losing your cool.. while Trav is not trying to convince you but reason with you.. trying to look at another angle of a situation.. but you are refusing to see.. since this thread is about catholics in particular.. ^_^.. You can hate Christianity all you want, but do not let it blind your judgment like many individuals have... a good example can be WWII like I mention before.. ^_^
Im not sure how we got to this place with this thread,,but here goes..I understand the stance some people have against Christians..I am one so I understand better than you might think.I have friends on this site from ALL religions,and no religion at all.The one thing Ive found to be true,is that truth that is not tempered with understanding and mercy might as well not be truth at all,cause no bodies going to receive it if you try to shove it down their throats.If and( I say IF)I want somone to change thier beliefs,,the best way to get that is to show them through my actions and life that what I believe in works,and makes a difference in my life,then I stand a chance of getting them to want the same thing I have.I cannot get people to go back and translate the Greek and Hebrew to see what the Bible orriginally said.So I must live that translation for them to see.Christianity has tried for MANY years to make the world change its views and has failed misserably at the job.Dont get me wrong I believe whole hearted in my religion and My God..But I dont like the strong arm tactics that have been used to try to get people to change.Many other Christians will not approve of my methods and they have that right,but I know one thing..I stand little chance of winning people over if I allianate and persecute them for their views...Just my 2 cnts
