This may not pertain to much of what’s being said now but is this post still going on or we finally going to say it's the persons choice.

Some wiccans do not eat meat. Others do. I know plenty on both sides of that fence. What is true for one is certainly not true for all.

I think that it's especially good for wiccans and pagans to eat meat because we worship the spirits of nature and it's natural for upper class species on the food chain to eat lower class species. That means that we were meant to eat meat and not eating meat (in my opinion) is just unnatural. I mean it almost degrades Hermes; the god of hunting (I think). So it is a choice of lifestyle but i think that it is better to be carnivores than vegetarians.

Ps: Now don't think I don't care about the animals because I love animals. They are still people, just not humans.

if being vegetarian is so "unnatural" then why are true vegetarian stronger, faster, and healthier then meat eaters?

I have to disagree with Cjjohns when he says that eating meat is natural and being a vegetarian is unnatural. It's very much the other way around. I'd like to see any normal human try to kill a cow with their bare hands and then eat it raw using no tools whatsoever to butcher it. Even if you did manage to kill it somehow, eating it would be a different story. Humans are not built to take down animal prey. Without weapons, humans are hardly the top of the food chain. It's been proven that a proper vegetarian diet is significantly healthier than a omnivorous diet.

In this day and age, being a vegetarian is better for the environment, your health, and obviously the animals.

Apparently we have not heard of evolution. According to the theory which has countless evidence to support it both physically and culturally, humans like all creatures change over time. When our ancestors where hungry and foraging for food they would take whatever they could get. This means if they happened across a dead animal that was still eatable they would consume what they could. Over time as we learned to use tools and the hunt began. Fire was another tool that man learned to harness. Today the foraging and hunting that takes place for most people is in a store. Were low and behold there are so many choices that some people are overwhelmed by them (myself being one of them).

I have been a vegetarian for several years of my life. Before I was pregnant with my first child was the longest I had gone ever without eating meat. (including sea food and fish). Once I was pregnant my doctor immediately said you are going to have to sacrifice your ideals and eat plenty of lean meat. When I objected he sited several current sources and told me to research it for myself. Even with my second (4 years later)I was told by a different doctor the same thing. After my youngest was born and my ideas of not having to eat meat creeped back in my mind, I had my whole family go on a vegetarian to vegan diet. What I found out was that the four of us love cheese and milk to much to substitute the real thing for ones made of soy and other products. So vegan was out. After struggling with keeping to the diet and how my family would scarf down meat when we would be at other gatherings I decided that it seems to be that our bodies need to eat meat. Now we have meat at some meals and none at others. We also limit the portions of meat we eat and make sure to eat more carbs, fruits and veggies. I think what most people forget is that what you eat is a choice you make according to what you like and know about food. If a person does not wish to take the time to know about the food they eat that is there choice.

As for the sacrifice of animals in the pagan community they exist if you choose to believe it or not. I am a witch, a pagan, and I have sacrificed animals, plants, and other things to my gods. A libation to mother earth can be of grape juice or of ale but it can also be the broth of a soup made from animal stock. You can give back to mother earth as well through the burring of animals and plants after they are dead. As for killing an animal inside a circle that is done in many different magic path. If you don't agree then you are not very well educated in the different paths of the craft.
