Depends. If you are a Satanist you can summon and talk to it. If you are a Jew, Christian, or Muslim, you can summon it and bind it. I only recommend the latter for experienced exorcists...
Well if you want to try to bind a God go right ahead i wouldn't recommend it. Why do you want to bind and exorcise a entity you called to help you? Its very rude and in most instances you'll get a celestial slap to the face. Like Awake said Demon didn't always meant evil the only reason their viewed as evil is due to ignorance.
I agree with BlackAnubis its very dangerous to try and bind a powerful entity that can crush any of us. It will take it as a form of disrespect i havent tryed them types of rituals you cant make a mistake your words you say have to be flawless no error. In any aspect your sigil and pentagle has to be flawless also.

Some binding techniques require that you extract an oath of service from said demon. This is not necessarily cruel or evil, but much the same as having them sign a contract. It is an archaic method of defining service, perhaps, but it holds true within some occult methods. Using seals and so forth are not necessarily so different then this, depending on how they are approached.
I'd say Awake pretty much hit it on the head. From my understanding binding/summoning was not always seen as "rude". It's really only been in the modern times we've decided that evoking is the more pleasant option. I've done both, and though I prefer to evoke I do not see "summoning" as a disrespectful act. It depends a lot in how you do it, and what entity you are trying to summon.
Being a Christian, I am safe from Demons. Didn't David say that angels will guard us and keep our feet from even grazing stones? Christ insulted Satan Lucifer to his face, and Lucifer was afraid to do anything back to him. I will bind demons, and keep them until they are cast into eternal torment for their rebellion, as will my fellow Christian Mystics.

But I would just like to point out prominently that the only reason "deamons" or "demons" were labeled as "evil" is because they were/are considered "god-like" be it lesser gods or actual gods. So they were made to seem evil because they were not THE god of the religion established in that particular culture. Any being worshipped or honored within that culture was stressed as "wrong" and looked down upon in this way. If you look up demon names, nearly all of them are connected to a god, demi-god, or higher being of another culture.
"Demon" was mixed up later to label any malicious or destructive spirit due to the past explaination of history and religions. But true demons/deamons are higher beings. Most people who encounter a spiritual entity they call a "demon" is nothing more than a malicious or angered spirit or nature spirit. True higher beings are not prone to random mischief, they have better things to do.
All deities, higher beings and spirits have the potential of being aggressive or destructive. Just as human beings and animals on the physical plane do. This is why research is necessary when looking into summoning any particular being. You wouldn't let a random stranger into your home, and it isn't wise to invite a random spiritual being in either without knowing exactly who they are.
