It sounds to me as if you are confusing animal totems with spirit guides, a totem is like a guardian who can bestow certain abilities on its protected when they need it, my family is watched over predominantly by the Mouse and Beaver, a spirit guide on the other hand is an entity taking on a form to suit the relationship between you, they command respect and authority and most mythical beasts are spirit guides rather than totems, I dont know if you guys here define things differently but thats the knowledge I was raised with at least

Sounds a bit like an Irish Wolfhound. They are the tallest breed of dog in the world and they are bred to run down and kill wolves one on one. Take a look at some of the pictures at the bottom of this link: http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/images15/IrishWolfhoundFrankBrendan.JPG&imgrefurl=http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/irishwolfhound.htm&h=485&w=350&sz=53&tbnid=OzsIlqIEznJe2M:&tbnh=265&tbnw=191&prev=/images%3Fq%3D%2522irish%2Bwolfhound%2522&hl=en&usg=__u3D5sdhsqgvoKqWzPh8ryO7xmI0=&ei=dGZ3S96zJpCX8AbY76D0CQ&sa=X&oi=image_result&resnum=1&ct=image&ved=0CAkQ9QEwAA
I reached the high of fully grown adult by standing on its all four legs, not two. It seems like a mythical beast to me. Like a dog with very rought hair. Like strate skeletal structure - it seems. Very, very long tail - Like dragons do.
Nose of the weird dog was shorter than a german shepherd dog has, but the entire body looked like being made for brute force not for great speeds. And for withstanding many things.

True, but a wolfhound on the astral could be any size it wanted to be. Astral beings are not held to the same physical standards as those on this plane.
Good thought, Lark! Yep, it DOES sound like an overgrown Wolfhound! Well, considering adult Irish Wolfhounds come up to my man's waist (he's 6'5"), that's quite the Wolfhound!!!!
if its similar to a cheetah it could be a Tasmanian tiger not extinct like people think
like Cerberus it could be a dire wolf
could you describe the tail and fur paterns or markings
if the tail is skinny and not fluffy and has stripes on the back half if it it's the t. tiger
if the tail is fluffy its a dire wolf
these are my predictions i may be wrong but these sound close.
PS plz dont use a feline and a canine for the same description as it is a bit confusing
I think you found an prehistoric animal possibly. You could try looking up prehistoric feline and canine animals. Also try looking up native legends they tend to talk a lot about ancient creatures, especially if its related to totems.
