I recently had an out of body experience of a sort. It was weird, I was laying in bed trying to go to sleep, and all of the sudden I feel a weird energy pull on my body, the next thing I know I'm being pulled up into space by a pair of giant hands cupped under me, and I was presented before the face of a woman wearing a toucan mask/head dress thing. And then it was over. Any opinions on what that was?

You don't need to be asleep to have a "dream". Our brains are very complex organs, and sometimes play "tricks". You are most unlikely to meet alien beings on the Astral Plain; in any case you will always be attached to your earthly body in some way. It has been described as many different "cords"; silver, gold, black, white, and sometimes as a wispy sort of "mist". There is no sense of being "lifted up"; quite the opposite, more a sensation of "falling".
Whilst I would agree on the fact that it was not an obe.. well not an intentional one,It could be a spontanious pojection which occur more often than people think and they actually have no memory of doing so.. in your case you may have become more perceptive to the astral realm. I would have to disagree on the fact that most people have a falling sensation, people experience obe in many different ways NOT all experience "falling" I myself experience a rising lifting feeling and have no problem leaving my body.

NoFear is right to correct me. What I should have said is that "I have the feeling of falling". NoFear is also correct in that AP happens more often than most people think.Babies do it all the time! Watch a baby at play, and suddenly they will become perfectly still, and seem to stare into space. It lasts just for a minute or so, then they "come awake" again. I witnessed it often in my own children. I feel sure that for that few minutes the babies are on the Astral. However, they seem to "grow out of it" by the time they are about 2 years old.

I recall an incident about AP. My children have all learnt AP as they grew older. My wife and I together with my eldest daughter were in a pub, and we mentioned "Astral travelling". A young man sitting nearby looked in a state of shock! He said he couldn't help over-hearing what we were saying. We said that it was alright. He said, "No, you don't understand. I have been doing that for years, and dare not tell anybody. I thought I was crazy!". That young man became a very close friend of my family. He still writes to me now and then from Nottingham where he now lives.
