Hello there, I've been sort of inactive due to a bad head cold. And when I have malaise or anxiety especially when I'm generally sick, I tend to just spend time with family because its comfortable. (I hate being alone when I'm sick lol, but ironic since I have a high chance to spread it)
I haven't really seen many posts about magick/shamanistic ways to get rid of illness like or related to this, and I think it would be nice to have something like this as a reference. I know there are certain things such as what herb is good for what, but I haven't really seen much of an explanation, such as rituals or more in-depth things? Like could energy work help the person to over power the symptoms? And I mean, why would there be much information on this nowadays, thanks to big pharma companies.
I'll leave this here.

Energy work can help with illness but should not be supplanted in serious cases in the place of trained medical professionals. Illness is thought to be associated with blockages or misaligned Chakra's. By clearing these blockages and replacing negative energy with clean fresh energy you can promote the natural healing process of your body! However magick like Dr Mcoy is not a miracle worker. Again it should be used as a supplement to the natural healing process of the body.
By the way Riki is the energy work/healing method I just described.
Magick or energy work will never be able to get rid of illness, that is what medicine is for.
This is not because of the pharmaceutical companies, but because of general scientific knowledge.
Despite this there are ways to improve symptoms, a walk generally helps as do a collection of herbal teas.
But we still have to remember that illness is not caused by blocked chakras, but by combinations of viruses, bacteria and fungi as well as general cell illness. We can only help aid the problem with magick, not solve it.
Healing spells can be done by others to help improve mental wellbeing (the better you feel in your mind, the less ill you will feel physically), but it is not recommended to cast spells when you are ill due to general energy loss.
Yes Reiki is a way of healing with energy, but it is mainly done on muscle issues and general pain (not caused by an illness).

So if magick isn't so effective to help the physical body, can it be effective for mental ones that aren't so terrible in degree? (Magick probably won't affect the neurons in our brains... But what if thinking differently can strengthen other neuron connections, like thinking more positively than negatively?) they say that depression is a cycle, and besides the chemicals and receptors we may naturally have/lack thereof, there's a certain state of mind also involved?
Could magick aid in things like moods and stares of minds?

Let's put your theory too the test. Breath in deeply through the nose 10 times. With every breath envision white colored energy seeping into your lungs. Feel it grow within you until it fills your chest completely. With every breath draw in more and more until the 10 breaths are complete. Now tell me how you feel. Notice any changes?
Breathing in deeply numerous times is just psychology not magick...we do it all the time with anxiety, it is not any form of magick (even if you try to add it in) it is the focussing on something else that changes the way you feel.
However I suppose things can be cast for mental issues, many people use spells to calm stress and anxiety before interviews and exams, some use it to help them focus if they have a scattered mind, so yes I suppose it would be more effective on the mental than the physical.

Then what is the point of magick if psychology takes care of the whole problem? What is magick then if it's not as Alistor Crowly described it? The art and science of creating change according to will?
Well for a start what you were describing has been a psychological technique for hundreds of years, there was nothing magickal about it even if you tried to add it in.
Secondly, magick has different descriptions to different people, Aleister Crowley's description is not one used by everyone, in fact I have never heard anyone bar yourself consider this to be the definition of what magick is.
Thirdly, magick is not used to solve everything, and many times it cannot solve a problem. Using the definition that you have stated, that the art and science go together to create magick via will, you would be able to create a griphin, because all the bits are found in science, you would simply need to put them together with with and magick.
Magick has its place alongside science, but it cannot be used as a replacement for psychology or medicine, it can only work alonside in order to aid it. This was the discussion at hand, not a petty argument.
