I've been studying about hypnosis and how it can help you. I discovered some ways that could help you to hypnotise yourself, being possible to do such things as:
Changing negative thoughts to positive and also positive to negative, such as fear to love, curing depression, etc.
I discovered that you could also control your mind to be consient during sleep, making it able to be "awake" in dreams, leading to lucid dreaming and even astral projection.
15 minutes of hypnosis has the same relaxation level as 4 hours of sleep, making it able to cure insomnia.
See, that's some of the things that can be made. Now, the preparation.
Lay down or sit in a confortable position with confortable clothes or maybe no clothes.
Talk to yourself in your mind. In 1st person or 3rd person, any works. Tell yourself commands, to relax your hands, arms, feet, legs, torso and so all body.
Tell yourself that your mind won't sleep during this, you'll stay aware of all of it.
The trick is relaxing the body and getting it asleep, so you can control your subconscious mind.
Most of what I discovered was on a try I did. I was really tired but did it, and I wanted to astral project. I felt my soul leaving the asleep body, it was shaking up and down quite fast and then I fell asleep. After preparing yourself and getting your body asleep but your mind conscious, you just need to tell yourself the changes to happen, or the action to be made. Your subconscios mind should be able to do it, as it's power is much stronger than the conscious mind.
Nice facts about it:
You're most of the time hypnotized. Being concentrated is being hypnotized. As watching a movie, writing, reading and etc.
Hypnosis ain't magic, but is actually science. People are afraid of the unknown, and most of the unknown is also discriminated by them, as hypnosis and, of course, magick.
There is hypno-therapy. Hypnosis ain't someone getting into your mind, but actually just concentrating. Your subcionscious is strong and intelligent. It won't do anything that it knows ain't right or that would prejudicate you.
You actually do use 100% of your mind, but each bit at it's time, not all at once. But the portion you can control is just 20%, the other 80% is all your subconscious. That's how strong it is.

This is a really noice and organized post! I just wanna say some things
And by Science, it is specifically covered and studied under Psychology.
And remember no one can be mesmerized or hypnotized unless they want to be, so for anyone reading this thread, remember that it is nothing dangerous that you cannot snap back out of. Some people, more than others, are more prone to becoming very engrossed into it. That is called their suggestibility.
