When I was beginner just learning in my 7th month of learning I became a High Priest on a Facebook coven. I only new some basics but always thought it was important to practice advanced magick. I was always asking questions. I think I asked the HPS of a online coven I was in,How to get further advanced in magick and knowledge. I was asked to stop asking questions and study and practice. I got a bit discouraged and thought it would be wise to learn some advanced practice. I read that Shamanism was very hard to learn and I thought I could be expert level right away. I studied on the concept of Animal Spirit familiars. In Shaman way people would collect roadkill so the animal would not go to waste. They would use the bones to connect with the spirit of the animal. I thought I would make a skull necklace. I needed some roadkill. Once I found a squirrel that was hit by a car and collected it at the side of the road and threw it in a bag and went home. I grabbed a steak knife and a glove in my backyard a decapitated its head by cutting it off from the neck and grabbed a mason jar and placed the head inside. At this point I did not know how to proceed in my project so I washed my hands and went to sleep. In the morning I decided to study on how to make a skull from an animal. I looked up on Wiki How with pictures on various ways to go about this. You could place it on top of an ant hill and the ants would take the fur off by eating the skin. I didnt have an ant hill nearby so I thought I would use the method to bathe it in laundry detergent as it was already in a mason jar. Several weeks went by and I learn I had to change the bath every now and then. Every couple of weeks I would get a doctors mask on and change the bath by pouring out the old liquid and putting in more detergent. My friend suggested I use bleach to quicken the process. It had a rancid stink and it became unbearable changing the bath. My friend who oversee my project suggested I just bury it and in a couple months dig it up and I would have a skull. I thought I knew what I was doing and told him it was online this method and I was sticking to it. I couldnt keep it in my garage anymore cuse it stunk like a rotting corpse. I kept it outside the summer turned to fall. My project was near to completion. I was unable to look at it i thought it wanted to harm me. Looking at it i would experience jolts of pain and very disturbing dreams. I asked my friend what can I do changing the bath is getting painful. I was suggested not to breathe in the fumes as it could be toxic. Something happened and my dad moved the jar into the sun and my skull withered into something and my project that I worked on for months was ruined. As I told my dad not to put it in direct sunlight. My project was sabotaged on purpose. I was very angry as my project turned into an obsession I decided to bury it in my backyard. I was depressed and tried to think how I can turn my abandoned project into magick. I thought I had a grave of a squirrel in my back yard and a thought came into my mind I had a energy spot a spirit of an animal that became a ley line energy vortex. My friend told me the energy was cleared and I had a powerful energy force in my backyard. I said you are a genius and ran away to my house and grabbed fresh candles a marker and candle holder. We wrote our intentions with the marker on the wax. Our candle magick was working at an accelerated rate. Later that year on Yule I had found another squirrel roadkill. I had collected it and buried it next to my squirrel so it can have a companion on Yule to correct my mistake. My energy vortex was stronger and I learnt that mistakes can become corrected and can become a blessing in disguise. I stress that it is important to ask questions and now I leave roadkill where it is and not make Spirit animal familiars. Even in death an angry animal can cause a lot of problems.
I found my spirit animal through a dream which is a cougar her name is Shadow and she appears to me in my dreams one time she left me a flower as a gift.
