Hey, everyone! The Liturgical season of Advent is upon us. If you don't know what Advent is, here's a brief summary:

Advent is a season of the Catholic Church that celebrates the coming of Jesus Christ (see the Gospel of Luke in your Bible). It follows the story from Mary being visited by the Archangel Gabriel to the family narrowly escaping King Herod's wrath.

To throw some magick in there, an easy thing to do is make an Advent Wreath. Here's what' you'll need:

  • 4 candles (three purple, one pink preferably.)
  • Matches
  • A Bible

You can additionally have a white candle to light the others, or to represent God, but that's up to you. If you want it to be fancy, decorate around the candles with evergreen branches. The candles should be in a circle.

If you are in a position where you cannot have candles or express your religion, follow this website:

Now, Advent covers the 4 Sundays of December. Here are the dates for 2020:

  • November 29: Prophet's candle (purple)
  • December 6: Bethlehem Candle (purple)
  • December 13: Shepard's Candle (pink)
  • December 20: Angel's Candle (purple)
  • December 25: Christmas (white, though optional)

I will be hosting an Advent ritual in the Coven Chatter each Sunday of Advent at 10:30 pm Eastern Standard Time (daylight savings is also currently in effect for most of the United States).

NOTE: because I'm bad at math, on Sunday, December 6 at 10:30pm EST I will be doing both the Prophet's and Bethlehem candle because we're a bit behind.
