this is for the beginners as to wot is some of the different types of magick and also a refresher for others

Types of Magick

Binding Magick: Binding magick is not the most recommended practice. To bind is to keep someone from doing something – almost like putting a wall between them and the chosen thing. This is a very restrictive magick and is often very unethical if used for the wrong reason. It is never to be taken lightly as it is long lasting, often very strong and can cause the law of three to see retribution against you.

Candle Magick: Candle magick is often used in spells and rituals and can be influenced by the shape, colour, scent and number of candles.

Crystal/Stone Magick: Just as herbal magick can be very divers, as can crystal magick. There are a multitude of crystals, stones and metals that can be used for many purposes through either simply invoking the energies of the crystals or crystal elixirs.

Dream Magick: Dream magick is usually incredibly useful for tapping into the astral and one’s own psyche. Through dream magick, you can connect to the hidden secrets of your mind and to realms you can’t access through the physical.

Elemental Magick: Elemental magick is one of the less commonly used magick outside of rituals. Usually in the beginning of a ritual, the elements are invoked and called into the circle for their blessings. However, outside the circle elemental magick can be used by invoking the essential energy of the elements for their specific magicks.

Glamour Magicks: Glamouries were originally used by the fey in order to disguise themselves when playing tricks and to hide from humans. Now that there are many fae otherkin and humans have come in contact with the fae, a few humans are able to work a glamour. They can be as simple and subtle as disguising a small scar or large as changing your eye or hair color. Often they can be used to even inspire desire in another human being. However, as useful as glamours can be, very few people can actually naturally work them.

Herbal Magick: Herbal Magick, in my opinion is one of the most useful magicks around. Usually herbal magic is employed through incense, tinctures or a long list of other herbal products in order to invoke their essences. If you’re ever having trouble finding something to work magick with for a very specific purpose, look through your favorite herbal magick book and you’ll almost definitely find something to help you.

Knot Magick: Knot magick is a very ancient practice that usually is based on the number of knots tied on a cord, usually with purposes for each knot.

Healing Magick: Healing magic can be accomplished through a variety of methods. It can be done through straight energy transfer (reiki and other methods), poppet magick, herbal magick, crystal magick and almost every other magick type for often wonderful results.

Poppet Magick: Poppet magick was popularized in the practice of voodoo but has been used in many different magickal systems in history. Usually “poppets” are made of cloth or was and are activated with a possession (be it an object or a hair clipping etc) to attach the energy of a person to the poppet.

Protection Magick: If you’re into astral travel and questing or even have a malicious gossiper following you this can be a very useful kind of magick. It employs all other types of magick and can be worked in various degrees of difficulty.

Sex Magick: Sex magick is a wonderful creative force because it taps into the act that essentially recreates humanity over and over. However, sex magick is never to be taken lightly as it is a very powerful type of magick and can create some serious physical, emotional and magickal consequences.

Weather Magick: For most people, weather magick is one of the most difficult types of magick to work. As the title speaks of, weather magick obviously has to do with controlling the elements in order to change the weather for certain purposes. This kind of magick is difficult for a reason: it is not to be taken lightly as weather systems in one area usually can affect the whole world in a domino effect.

Weather magick is generally very easy for me. Just saying;

I second to that.

Can you give some tips?

Yeah. I'm generally oriented to air and wind magic, so weather magic (mainly wind) isn't too difficult.

some people can naturally do it and it takes time for others

Like The_Old_Book said, for some people, different types of magick [weather, divination, potion, herbs] comes easier than others. It's like art, some people are born gifted, others need a bit of practice.

Weather magick can be very easy for many, but for most, it's about tapping their energy into the forces of our natural world. We must allow ourselves to connect to the elements that we are working with. I may be new, but I have had pasts where I'm a Witch. This means I do have some knowledge that I remember from those pasts.

As one other said, some people can do it naturally, and others can't. I've never personally tried, so I don't know for sure how 'easy' it would be for me, but I assume because I have to try in the first place, it doesn't come 'easy' for me. However, I think those drawn to magick all each have their own gifts. For me, summoning would likely be easy, as I have drawn spirits to myself without trying. (Bad news is that the majority of them are harmful ones.) Divination I could do in my sleep, no pun intended as that's where 75-85% of mine occurs naturally, as I am highly attuned to that aspect of magick. I think all witches have their own aspects of magick at which they excel. Some may not even have any interest in weather magick, and I think that alone would indicate they have no natural proficiency in it, as I believe those who do have such proficiency would be more drawn to such a thing even before beginning their magickal journey, but that's just my take on it.

What’s the law of 3

Could I use a Binding spell for my self to stop OCD habits?

Nov 14, 2022
It is a clever thought, but binding is about restriction and 'holding on' to an idea or thing. So you might be successful in stopping yourself from performing some of your potential habits... but you would not be removing the habit or source so the desire/instinct to do it would still be there. In essence causing stress because you now are unable to do something but you still feel a need to do it.

You would be much better served with a dedication to exploring and releasing the cause of your habits. Most-commonly OCD has roots in anxiety and association. If you want to be free of your habits you need to address where they come from.

I wish. You could try some type of freezer spell, or a healing to help you manage your OCD, but magick can't stop something that's part of you [like healing an amputated limb] I've got a lot of mental health issues, and while I'd love a spell that I could do to make me not depressed, have anxiety, or stop my panic attacks when my PTSD is acting up, no spell will change how my brain is wired. However, I use my daily practice to manage it. Meditation, journaling, tarot/oracle cards, and various personal rituals keep me balanced, in high spirits, and aware of myself. That's one way I can tell when my mental health is starting to slip, as well as ways to heal once I escape the darker aspects of mental health struggles. Maybe a mantra could help you? Or meditation. You could even try a freezer spell for particularly difficult triggers. Good luck to you.

VioletMoore3, The best way to try and cope with OCD is to get a proper clinical diagnosis and have a therapist begin working with you to alleviate that condition. Many people self-diagnose, which is dangerous and inaccurate. On Quora, in particular, they throw around terms like PTSD, Bipolar Disorder, Anxiety Disorder, and diagnose others with Narcissism and Psychopathy. To show how inaccurate it is for someone without the educational background to even recognize such disorders, Psychopathy is not even a clinical diagnosis in the DSM (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders). Just as one should leave magick to witches, one should leave the diagnosing of mental disorders to the properly trained clinicians. Even having my Bachelors in Psychology, I would never attempt to diagnose someone outright, but educate them instead with references and resources. (Peer-Reviewed, preferably.)

Sabrina101, you have no evidence that VioletMoore3 was self-diagnosed or clinically diagnosed. They need help controlling their OCD tendencies. They could be going to therapy but still struggle. [and medication doesn't work for everyone. I've got a ton of trauma and taking medication for my anxiety and depression doesn't help my root cause which is my PTSD trauma responses, so I need to use non-medical methods. I don't take medication for my inattentive ADHD because I'm considered high functioning and the cost of the drugs is too high. My husband has ADHD but doesn't take medication because he doesn't like how he feels when he's on it. I've got dozens of examples of medication that does and does not work for people in my life] Meditation, mindfulness, journaling, herbal teas and even crystals help me manage my mental health. While you should speak to a medical professional, it's rather ableist to assume everyone can and does have access. I know plenty of people who self-diagnose because they have all of the symptoms, it resonates for them, but they don't have access to a doctor to do an official evaluation [where I live, there is a 3-year waiting list for an adult autism diagnosis and 7-years for kids to get into a program] Whether or not VioletMoore3 was officially diagnosed or self-diagnosed doesn't matter. They had a question because they feel it could help them with a problem. They're not taking ADHD medication from people who need it because they need to study for a test, or using OCD as an excuse to exploit disability claims, they want to help manage something they struggle with.

And regarding how many people online claim they have these mental health conditions, it's because it's very common. This generation is finally addressing mental health. My grandmother has generalized anxiety disorder [it's how my siblings and I got it] my mom jokes about being ''OCD'' when she's really struggling with undiagnosed ADHD. My siblings all have it, and my cousins are autistic. You see the signs and patterns in other people, that's how you can tell. As a child, I was tested for ADD [way back in the 90s] but my parents refused to believe the diagnosis and just told me I was ''normal'' in the hopes it would go away [it didn't. I got an official diagnosis as an adult and have to unpack all of that] my sister was diagnosed in middle school, but again, they didn't want to admit it, so we never knew until recently in adulthood. People know when they're not okay, but the environment they're raised in can influence their response. There's a reason people are talking about it more. For centuries, people who were ''crazy'' were locked away, either in asylums or ignored by family. People don't want that. They want change and help. Yes, there are people jumping on a bandwagon, but the majority who identify with the symptoms and want help [not medication or a special badge, help]
