    The Candle:

Taper candles typically burn for 1 hour per inch of candle wax. So, a normal taper candle (which is approximately 10 - 12 inches) should burn for about 10 - 12 hours. Temperatures, humidity, and elevation can cause the burn time of the candle(s) to vary, however.

For this spell, you will need to burn your candle for 7 days, with the 7th and final day being on the night of the full moon. The idea being that the energy put into the spell and the power of the power of the waxing moon work to strengthen the power of your spell.

Candle & Burn Time Per Day:

    • Day 1 - Approximately 2 hours
    • Day 2 - Approximately 2 hours
    • Day 3 - Approximately 2 hours
    • Day 4 - Approximately 2 hours
    • Day 5 - Approximately 2 hours
    • Day 6 - Approximately 1 hour
    • Day 7 - Approximately 1 hour

Note: Be sure to keep an eye on your candle as it burns, both to avoid in fire danger and to make sure you have enough of the candle to burn for the full 7 day time period.

    The Spell:

Start by dressing your candle with the rose oil. As you work the oil into the candle’s surface, focus on your intent of drawing a spouse or lover into your life. Visualize it as vividly as you can, but try not to focus on a specific individual.

When you’re ready, use a pin or needle to etch words or phrases associated with the qualities that you want your spouse or lover to have, into the candle’s wax. Try to be as specific as you can. Some possible words include:

    • Loving
    • Caring
    • Gentle
    • Kind
    • Fun Loving
    • Adventurous
    • Loyal and Faithful

As you etch each on into the candle, focus on each one and try to visualize this in your mind. You can even chant the words or phrases as you etch them. This can help you build energy, as well as further focus on your intent.

When you’re done, place the candle in its holder and sprinkle the sugar and rose petals around the base. Light your candle and visualize the candle drawing your spouse or lover to you. As you do this, softly chant:

“True love is what I seek to find. I wish for a lover/spouse that is divine. I wish for romance; happiness in love and life. I seek a relationship free of strife.”

Meditate as you chant this, but again try not to focus on a specific individual.

On the 7th day, the night of the full moon, once you’ve done this, and your candle has burned out, bury the remainder of the wax, sugar, and rose petals at the base of a tree. Say a small thank you to the moon as you walk away, and be patient while you wait for your spell to work.

Note: Keep in mind, this will not drop a lover or spouse on your doorstep and it will take time to manifest. Get out. Meet new people. Have fun, and look for new opportunities that might take you to your lover or spouse.

Find some place comfortable and begin to relax yourself, however method you prefer. Clear your mind, and focus on the question you wish to ask. Light your candle. Focus on the flame, focus on your question. Images should start to appear, such as: if you question is about school, you will see an image of a book. Some images will personally mean something to you, and you will know the answer.

    #3 - Basic Esbat Information

Following the Sabbats and Esbats are a very important part of a witches life. According to Raven Grimassis book The Wiccan Mysteries and Wiccan Magic following both is key to learning how to hear the voice of the wind. Where Sabbats are to honor the turning of the seasons and the Gods where no magic is normally worked, Esbats are the celebrations of the Lady and giving her honor and also when magic is worked by the coven. There are many books on Esbats and Moon Magic that you can check out, but the following is the basics that most witches use. The following are the Full Moons and I will post the Dark Moons later.

    Chalcedony

    Energy: Receptive
    Planet: Moon
    Element: Water
Powers: Peace, Anti-Nightmare, Travel, Protection, Lactation, Luck Magickal Uses: Chalcedony, in common with many other stones, banishes fear, hysteria, depression, mental illness, and sadness. It also promotes calm and peaceful feelings when worn or held in the hand.

In the 16th century it was prescribed by magicians to dissolve illusions and fantasies. For this purpose it was pierced and hung around the neck.

Worn to bed or placed beneath the pillow, chalcedony drives away nightmares, night visions and fears of the dark.

As a protective stone, chalcedony guards its bearer during times of political revolution and while traveling. It is also used to ward off psychic attack and negative magick. Chalcedony prevents accidents if worn.

In Renaissance magic the chalcedony was engraved with the figures of a man with his right hand upraised. This was worn for success in lawsuits as well as for health and safety.

The stone is used for beauty, strength, energy and success in all undertakings, and in Italy, mothers wear beats of white chalcedony to increase lactation. An arrowhead carved of chalcedony is worn and carried for luck.

First you are going to write your name on the piece of paper. Write it so it is straight across the paper horizontally, and keep writing it until you can't fit your name anymore. Now turn the paper 90 degrees so the point is facing you. Write the full name of the person you want to "sweeten" across the paper starting at the top, and working your way down, so their name crosses yours. (This is called "crossing"). Take the two hairs (if you can't get a hair, don't worry about it, the spell will just be slightly less effective, and take longer) and tie them together.

Take the paper you have written on, and create an envelop (use this method: http://www.expertvillage.com/video/5939_easy-origami-envelope.htm but stop after you put the corners into the triangles). Try to keep the written part on the inside of the envelope. Now put the hairs, as well as the herbs, into the envelope.

Open the jar and fill it full with whichever sweet syrup you are using. In order to make room for the envelope, take a large spoonful of the syrup and concentrate on it while chanting: "As I eat this sweet, may you and I meet. And may I be as sweet to you as sweet as this syrup is true. As I eat this syrup divine, may your eyes turn to mine. (Persons name) may you find me sweet, as this syrup is to me". Then eat the syrup. If you need to eat another spoonful to make room for the envelope, then repeat the process.

Put the envelope into the jar and close it tightly. Light the candle and place it on the jar lid. Do this every day that corresponds to your desire (Friday for love, Monday for family, Thursday for legal matters, etc), until your goal is met. If you need to use a new candle, just put it on top of the already melted wax.

When your goal is achieved, keep the jar in a safe, dark place, to keep the sweetness going.
