HOWZIT MY NAMES DAVID AS YOU MAY HAVE SEEN ON MY PROFILE! UM I AM NEW ON HERE MY ENGOLISH IS NOT VERY GOOD AS MY MAIN LANGUAGE I SPEAK IS AFRIKAANS I WAS BORN IN DURBAN SOUTH AFRICA .. AFRIKAANERS ( SUCH AS MY SELF) ORIGINATE FROM DUTCH SPEAKING PEOPLE either from holland or Denmark Also A type of Germanic language is heard when speaking in Afrikaans THEY FIRST COLONALISED SOUTH AFRICA IN THE EARLY 1600'S BY A MAN NAMED JAN VAN RIEBEECK HE FOUNDED A TOWN KNOWN AS CAPE TOWN TODAY, BUT WAY BACK WHEN IT WAS 'THE CAPE OF GOOD HOPE' *Although he never actually discovered it he BUILT it from ground up. A bit of history for you: European settlement in South Africa started in Cape Town, which is why it is still called the Mother City to this day. After the British had decided against establishment of a colony at the Cape of Good Hope, it was the Dutch who realized the strategic and economic importance of the Cape. On a commission for the Dutch-East India Trading company the merchant Jan van Riebeeck anchored in the picturesque bay at the foot of the Table Mountain on April 6, 1652.
