I've seen two years fly by now, leaving much change behind. This site has been through so much, and I've been here to experience most of it. I find myself now, questioning all of it. This site doesn't have the charm, wit, or mysticism it once possessed.
I look at the chatter these days and I see kids, messing around. I see little learning (unless I'm just on at strange times). I'm wondering...at what point this place became a haven for kids to come and be different. I miss the old learning atmosphere, the helpful people, and loving covens. Where have they all gone?
I took a moment to scroll through the coven list earlier and I'm pretty disappointed. Many of the covens that held interesting styles and the intention to teach are gone, replaced by a group with random people just leeching spells. I don't see a strong family in the covens like there once was. Where are all the old members? Am I the only one besides a few mods?
I don't know why I'm here anymore. These covens...they have nothing to offer me anymore. I feel as though my time here was over ages ago, yet I can't leave. Maybe I'm hoping for change? Perhaps a new generation, willing to learn more than just some spell to "fix" their problems. Maybe a more studious group willing to praise the God and Goddess (or whichever deity they choose). I don't know if people realize Wicca and most of these religions are more than casting spells...
I hope I'm wrong, I hope there is some group I've yet to run into that are very serious about this and not just here because it's a hang out spot in the chatter. I pray I'm proven wrong, for the future of this site and the craft.
I am new and I believe I understand what you are saying. The number of people who call themselves vampires and talk about drinking the blood of humans, dogs and dragons is bit annoying. There are also a few too many children who claim to be all powerful "Wizards" and so forth so. I have spoken with indivuals at other social networking sites dedicated to magick and this site is not spoken of highly.
I see great deal of potential here. There are a number of people who are interested in Magick, wicca, Dragon Magick and so forth and those people are great, but the role play gamers are by and large a huge force here.
I'm not sure what brought me here other than my desire to help others and to share my knowledge. I too have heard very nasty things about this site on other forums I frequent, but I feel that it's about finding the diamonds in the rough here. There is far too much RP here that wouldn't be tolerated in the very least on other sites dedicated to real magick, which may be why they all end up here? Maybe they've been banned/told to leave from other sites?
I also find that this site can be very instantly gratifying, with the wealth of spells for anyone by anyone, which keeps people who are new to magick from expanding from here. I enjoy this site for the freedom it has, but I also enjoy others for their structure. I have to say that this website definitely helps encourage these new practitioners to keep at it and to go at magick from various creative angles.
My biggest problem is the lack of proof in claims. I read far too many people with all these uber amazing kinesis abilities and being vampires and whatnot, and the lack of proof is tolerated. I am not a hardcore skeptic but I am no dope. There are no videos displaying these abilities, no photos, no nothing. On other sites proof would be demanded or you would be asked to refrain from such comments or leave. It really rubs me the wrong way to see others being pulled into these claims; and then they ignore the people who try to help them understand the reality of the situation because "uber cool deathkinesis" is more fun than "try visiting the astral," or "begin with meditation." I by no means am so cut and dry about reality, but I cannot tolerate lying, especially so blatantly.
I apologize if this sounds like a site-bashing post, I just wanted to voice my opinion. I am happy to be a member and I hope the advice I offer is beneficial to at least one person here. I'm sure I am not alone here.
I am glad to see that I'm not the only one who feels this way. I think I'll probably stat for the same reasons as you Kikuyo. Though I can probably learn very little here anymore, I can give back. I will be happy to help if anyone has a question and if I can't give an answer, I will research it, I will not leave someone with an "I don't know, too bad." I hope others here like Kikuyo will step forth and reclaim this site as a place of learning and not a teen/child's playground.
You can also ask the right people what it is you wish to know. I myself can answer many questions and those that I can not I try to find another who can ;)
Yeah, your right. I'm thirteen and a half years old and I came here because I am serious. I don't do the spells (I'll do them later in my life) but I do learn about things here and like to discuss a few topics in my taste like Reincarnation. And I see the kids in the chat room messing around again. -.- I don't use the chatter because of those kiddies *stares at them and they all run away* hee hee, sorry that was just a joke. I also find it annoying when kids claim to be vampires or lycans (werewolves) Remember this kid who came here to role play and said rude stuff and didn't even know how to properly use grammar? Now he ticked off a lot of people, even me. I really wish all these role players would get out of this site.
I sometimes do meditation, astral projection. I haven't practiced astral projection for three months because I have a lot of stuff going around in my life. Blessed Be )O(
The issue I have and I know I have seen posted at other sites is what does being a vampire, a werewolf, demon have to do with the theme of this site?
We can all say what we want to see, however I personally would not put much stock in people claiming to be super natural creatures, or powerful "hand wizards" and other terms used in RPG land.
Personally I do not put much stock in people who claim to be such and such creatures, or altra powerful and knowledible in "magic" again not magick.
Spells for the Mundane
I have also seen so many spells for mundane things. "I need a spell to turn my tv on when the batts are dead", I need a spell to change my hair color the list just goes on. The universal life force does NOT jump on every spell nor the the deities work with people who do not bother to actually take the time and understand the principles of magick.
Amen TKDDragon! lol I think sometimes people get too wraped up in magick and forget to buy new batteries... forget that hairdye exists, colored contact lenses, treadmills, etc. There is nothing wrong with NOT using magick to accomplish something, lol. Things like weightloss, hair color, and complexion can be aided by magick, but there are plenty of non-magickal items to use that will aid you greatly. Don't forget the physical!
