I ask this question, and hope that only people who have some sort of experience on the art, comment, yet feel free to learn from the responses, please do not go read an article and give advice from that sole reading; I am asking for people who have used the following.
I have recently purchased an oracle deck, mistaking it with a tarot deck (internet shop -.-"). I have my experience with tarot cards and their distinctive spreads and use in divination. Now this set of cards do not come with vague directions on their use. I have read a few advices on the net regarding oracle cards, but I would feel much more at ease hearing from other people who have used such decks; spreads, and methods, perhaps.
How different are they from tarot decks, apart from the fact that they have 52 cards and not 78?
i have found that the spreads for them are slightly different and they are a bit more vague than tarot. however i feel they give more license for personal intuition. My oracle cards are an angel deck, which lets me develop meanings farther from the angels on them. i have seen animal ones, and you can do the same by what animals mean, but that is not nessecary.
i also use an oracle deck, and i have the book that came with it. and i still dont understand them. plus reading them, takes alot of energy of me to actully read them. but the messages isnt quite like a tarot reading. my last reading with them kept saying release, and new path would have been started.
Actually by some reason i prefer to use orcale cards than Tarot despite i started to do divination with Tarot first .What Levi said is correct ,Tarot deck gives more detail information because most oracle decks are not more than 40 or 50 cards .All of my oracle decks came with booklet and in some cases with huge book in pair .So it is good idea to check if it cames with one ,except if you do not know much on the subject and you wont need to do further research and you are good with reading symbols and taking information out of them .So i will advice you to read symbols of the cards if there are any as first .Then you can do internet research over this goddesss and read all info you can find for her .By doing so you can create even your own booklet with meaning of the cards .As well try to write down each reading and how you did interprate it and were you right or not .
If you were then you probbaly linked right the symbol with the
situation which was to come in the future .See the things from good side that will give you a chance to develop your own booklet and method and remember using divination requires imagination and intuition .Other plus is that you will learn more information over different type of goddesess ,which will expand your knowledge and maybe you will connect with some of them in particular .If you felt strong desire to purchase this deck then it was ment to come to you by some reason .Maybe divine try to teach you to be more creative ,to trust yourself more and to risk to trust your intuition ,instead of just read what someone else wanted to say on this deck and the way he or she related all cards .Rememer despite all arhetypical symbols
have certain meaning from centuries some people find new meanings for themselves ,which does not work for others .
In short what works for others may not work for you .
So go throw yourself in the waters of your intuition and creativity and see what will discover into them .Who knows you may discover even real hidden treasures which you never though even existed .Good luck if you need further help let me know i will try to help as far as i can .
Oracles are divination tools use to predict the future... prophecies, revelations revealed. Oracle decks, divination decks, meditation cards, and cartomantic are non-Tarot decks. Oracle decks are used for similar purposes to Tarot cards, but have varying numbers of cards - from as low as 20 to as many as 144 - and may be based on any structure or any topic. The Oracle cards can also be used for ritual magick as a kind of focus in spell work or for meditation.
These cards are read differently from most decks. These are read by intuition and feelings. Layouts encouraged are having the petitioner shuffle, choose 1 to 9 cards from them facedown, and lay out their chosen cards in any way they choose. It is different to those relying on traditional Tarot cards. These cards tend to reveal truths about ones personality, traits, activities, and personal issues. Often they let slip a hidden truth that affects their life right now. They often show what a person needs to correct in their life, such as being more playful, more responsible about something, or that a particular issue will resolve if let be. These cards are full of joy and they often give encouragement about what a person is doing right, and should celebrate, in their life.
The cards will change in meaning for you, from one reading to the next.
