I realize this is a very old post, but I would like to add to this.
What is a Gem Elixir?
A gem elixir is water that has been attuned to, or absorbed the energies of certain crystals.
How do I make an Elixir? Place your cleansed gemstones in a glass cup, bowl, etc. Pour spring or purified water over the gems. Cover it with cheesecloth or gauze, and allow it to sit for a night. By morning, the elixir should be ready for use. You can drink it, rub it on your skin, etc. As a side note, if you don't want to place your crystal directly in the water, you could place it in a smaller glass and place that in the water. Others use an alcohol base for their elixirs, some used energized water. To make a gem essence or elixir with an alcohol, add the gem elixir to organic brandy. Try to keep the mixture half and half. Equal amounts. To make the energized water, one method says to place the elixir in the sun for 3-4 hours before use.
Which Stones Can I Use? The following is a brief list of specific issues/ailments and stones that you can use to make gem elixirs tailored to that specific need.
Stress: quartz, rose quartz, and amethyst.
Weight Loss: quartz and red jasper,
Energy & Stamina: quartz and moss agate.
Immune System Boost: quartz, amethyst, and black tourmaline.
Diuretic: quartz, red jasper.
Insomnia: rose quartz and lack tourmaline.
Skin Conditions: amethyst, quartz , and red carnelian
Skin rejuvenation - amethyst, agate, and red carnelian
Libido - red carnelian, red jasper, and rose quartz
Concentration - agate and quartz
Which Stones Should I Avoid?
Amazonite - contains copper and copper can be toxic to our bodies.
Azurite - contains copper.
Boji stones - their sulphur content makes them undesirable for elixirs.
Chalcopyrite - it contains a combination of copper and sulphur.
Chrysocolla - contains copper
Cinnabar - contains mercury
Cuprite - copper content
Dioptase - copper content
Hematite - stone can rust due to the iron content in it.
Lapis Lazuli - the pyrite in it could be poisonous and the stone is porous.

Herbs and crystals are both powerful in their own right. It is a common belief among many that they can be used, both magically and medicinally, to improve health, mood, etc.
To use both herbs and crystals in an elixir:
Place the herbs in boiling water. Visualize them filling the water with their essence (or whatever purpose you wish the herbs to be used for). You can even say a small chant over the brew, if you feel it would help empower it.
Allow the liquid to cool and then place a quartz crystal into the brew (you could also place the crystal in a small glass and then place it into the liquid if you don't want to put the crystal directly into the brew).
Cover the liquid with cheesecloth and allow it to sit in the refrigerator overnight. By the next morning, your elixir will be ready for use.
This method is similar to the one used in the original post, with the addition of the herbs.

Brew For Better Health:
Items needed:
Glass Bowl
9 Basil Leaves
1 Clear Quartz
Bottle of Spring water.
Glass Bottle with Dropper.
Just before the sun rises, stand outside, facing the east, and place nine fresh basil leaves in a bowl. To this, add about a pinch of calendula blossoms and a clean, clear quartz crystal.
Pour spring water over the ingredients, filling the bowl until it is just about full. Place your hands just to the sides of the bowl. Close your eyes, relax, breathe deeply, and focus on your words doing as you will them to. Say the following:
"Perfect love,
Perfect Strength,
Perfect Health."
When you feel the sunrise, open your eyes. Use a dropper and put nine drops of the water into a bottle. Fill the bottle half with spring water and half with brandy. Close the bottle, give it a gentle shake, and place three drops of it under your tongue. Take three drops of this every morning, until you feel that your health has begun to improve.
Pour what is left in the bowl around the base of a tree as an offering to the spirits of nature.
