I am a 16 year old boy beginning magic and am wondering what i should start off with. I dont know bairly anything about magic but am willing to learn anything I can!
Start by asking yourself, "Do I really want to dedicate my time to learning/practicing magic?" If you don't feel you can, then I wouldn't suggest going much deeper than researching some things you might find interesting.
Take your time. It's not a rush to learn. Some people have been practicing twenty plus years and they still take the time to learn things. Magic can help unlock parts of you, spiritual parts, that have been long forgotten or straight up not present. Patience will be greatly rewarded.
Start with something simple. Magic requires a great amount of mental, emotional, and in some cases, physical strength. Look into some mythologies, because some of them are interesting and they are a decent starting step to remembering specific tales, names, and so on.
Think about what you're doing and how you're doing it. When you can stop and think about the progress you've been making or if it's laundering, you can tweek what's wrong, and make what's right even better if you so desire. Each person is different when it comes to their magic and how they perform it. Some people stick to specific parts of paths/traditions/religions, while others take what they've learned in those paths/traditions/religions and make it so it suits them comfortably.
Try meditation. It's not something for everyone, but it can be another fairly decent starting step. Just start with lying down and taking several deep breaths and let your mind wander openly and freely.
Start with the basics: meditation, energy work and visualization. There are links to articles on these topics on my profile. Feel free to take advantage of them.
Well, if you're serious about learning how to do magic and with starting from the rock-bottom then you don't start out by casting spells, you start out by learning how and why magic works.
You see, there is no such thing as an "easy" spell or a "beginner" spell. One either understands how magic works and has mastered the basics...in which case the magic will work..or you haven't done that sort of work..and no spell will work no matter how "easy" it seems.
Casting a successful spell involves much more than finding some spell on the internet or in a book, saying some words, lighting a candle, waving a wand of any of that sort of thing. In order for magic to work you need to understand how and why it works in the first place. Grounding and centering, visualization, focus and intent, energy manipulation, etc are all necessary first steps to even begin to have a chance at a spell actually working...and more importantly to prevent a spell from back-firing on you.
So, my advice for anyone who is truly serious is to start by reading a few books and practicing the exercises those books will give you. Once you have mastered the basics you won't need anyone to give you spells, you'll be able to create your own spells that will be far more effective than anything you find on the net. Here's the books I suggest:
"Before You Cast a Spell" by Carl McColman
"Spells and How They Work" by Janet and Stewart Farrar
