A friend if mine lives in a neighborhood where we've dealt with unusual things. We've had things follow us but when we turn, there is nothing. Large animals in our yards, but thereven aren't any large animals that live there.
But recently, I moved and now she's having another issue and I was wondering what you all think. She had something scratching on her door and when she went to check it, it stopped, dead silent. Multiple people heard it. A couple days later it sounded like something was on the fence. And lastly, she says you can hear the leaves crunching and breaking. Does this just sound like some average animal, or is this something More? If so, haso anyone ever encountered similar things?
I know it sounds not serious, but I'd rather figure things out sooner and her not have a near death experience in the case it gets worse.
Have your friend reported the scratching to the authority? They may or may not set up a camera or two to catch the animal that's causing it, depends on how things work there. Wild and/or stray animals is very likely to be the source. The only way to figure out if it's an average animal or not is to see it for yourself, which in this case it's best to alert the authority.
I had experienced something similar, though it was tapping and pounding on my bedroom windows(second floor, no balcony) instead of scratching. Set up cameras, alerted the authority, recorded everything and confirmed that it's not from bats, birds, or the wind. Banishment and wards stop it.
Banish it, Cleanse the place, cleanse herself, make wards and maybe do some protection spells if she's up to it. If she's religious, blessing her place and doing the equivalent of exorcism on the place(I forgot the term and am unsure if it's only a thing in the religion my mother taught me or not) is an option, too.
i don't know your area, but you cannot rule out a wild animal wandering around [foxes, coyotes, coywolves, raccoons even larger animals like deer and bears can wander into suburban or urban centers.] check if anyone else sited/reported animals in your area. [it could also be a branch scratching against the door. sounds silly, but it's another option]
to be safe i would cleanse/protect the home, property and your friend in case it is a spiritual being. i would also try and collect some evidence and report it to the police so they have a record [or if there is other reports of an animal/person lurking in the area they can add it to their reports]
Here in Texas, we have everything from ground squirrels to coyotes that love to scratch at doors, floors, walls, you name it. If you live in the city, raccoons and coyotes, as well as stray dogs and cats are much more common than you think, and most are smart enough to stop and listen if they hear noise from inside the house. I would report it to animal control, or possibly set up a motion-sensitive flood light. They're inexpensive, and work well in keeping animals and even intrusive people away.
However, for general peace of mind, consider cleansing the house, or setting up a crystal or stone grid.
Sorry to derail a little but realized I've had this question circling in my mind a while. If you do something like a cleansing/banishing and there was nothing there to cleanse or banish, are there potentially any negative effects? Or is it neutral?
