Higher Self

Out of curiosity, how many here have seen their higher selves? I've seen her primarily through feeling and meditation, but I wanted to know if anybody else had other techniques to see/feel. Also, if you wouldn't mind it, what does your higher self look like?

I suppose the first task is to define what is being referred to as the higher Self. Different people think of it in different ways.

For some it is a psychological aspect representing one's desired ideal state. Ie; you as you see yourself within the ideals of your spirituality.

For others it might be a concept of your spiritual Self with access to the collected ideas, memories, lessons, and experiences of your past lives. Basically the part of you that remains tuned in and aware of your spiritual connection/collected learning.

Similarly, some consider it as something a little more external to yourself as you are now. More like a separated energy or soul fragment you leave behind within the spiritual while you bring only 'what you need' for your particular incarnation. Sort of how one might divide their attention between reading a book and watching/listening to youtube... or any other tasks. Except the dividing is a little more literal. (this line of thought ties in with ideas of concurrant lives, etc)

I suppose I mostly use the second perspective, with leanings towards the third; treating the concept of the higher Self as the representation/energy of my total Self as I would be while between lives. Fully connected to my full nature, past experiences, and within a fully energetic/spiritual state of being.

When within my higher Self perspective, I still feel masculine/male, but the idea becomes more of a relative idea. I surmise I have just spent more lifetimes as males so those perceptions are just more familiar. I also feel connections with non-human aspects as a part of myself, and this affects a few things I feel and perceive.

I don't often mention it because, well, most often it isn't relevant. But for sake of this topic I think this applies. I consider myself an Otherkin. Specifically I carry some draconic (dragon like) tendencies with me. As a result I still carry much of that sort of energy with me on a soul level, and it is reflected in my form. I have spent a lot of time exploring the nuances so I could go onto some pretty focused detail. But for now I'll keep it to the main bits.

I see and feel mySelf having a humanoid shape (arms and legs) with a digigrade stance. Meaning I would basically walk around on my toes. I have a tail, scaled skin, a muzzle, and other basic dragon-n-ny features. Including wings. Those are a bit atypical in form though; the wing structure has a very draconic feel and look, with bony fingers akin to the classic western depictions. But instead of wing membranes I feel the rustle and shift of feathers. ... or at least something feather-like. But overlarge, soft, and easily flowing.

While unusual, when I consciously connect to the energies of my Higher self I frequently also connect with the imagery and sensations of such a form. I even use it within my energy working and when I do I feel a much deeper connection to myself, and that energy's flow.

As far as how I tuned in to my higher Self energies, it was a process that just... sort of happened. At the time I was focused on meditation, introspection, and energy working in general. I had recently connected with my guide and one evening he convinced me to go out for a run. A summer habit I developed that year. The run that evening, combined with a couple months spent basically dedicated to connecting with and awakening my personal energy, and some well-timed goading from my guide apparently knocked a few things loose and broke open the flood gates.

Like you, since then tuning in to my higher Self has been done through meditation and visualization. For a while I used to get myself into a good meditative state, then imagine myself in front of a mirror or a pool of glass-smooth water, and I would focus on the details of the reflection. I never did develop much skill with drawing, but I still found it useful to try and scribble down the details I saw and details I felt. Of course the drawings I achieved never quite matched up with the details I had in my mind. But it still let me get out some of the things I 'saw' and translate at least the general idea into something tangible. Repetition refined my ability to draw somewhat... One such doodle (where I tried to focus specifically on my wings) is actually my profile pic.
