Playlist for the Gods

Tomorrow is Libations for Hermes and I would like to create a playlist for him, any suggestions I would love to hear.

What sorts of genres would you like? Are there any specific associations with Hermes you'd like to highlight? And must the music be specifically related to the deity, or are you seekig songs related to things related to him?

I guess this would be either really easy, or really hard depending on how you look at it. From my understanding Hermes is one of those gods that fills a lot of roles. Especially if you take into account his likeness in mercury.

Travel, borders, speed, trickery, thievery... he is a messenger of the gods, a patron of medicine (the caduceus) cars (mercury), and his symbols appear in a whole host of modern things... even the logos on tires, and he is a psychopomp to boot! (One who collects and carries souls to the afterlife)

What personally comes to mind is light, probably instrumental/orchestral music that evokes thoughts of journeys or wide open spaces. Like the 'riders of rohiram' theme from the lord of the rings movies. ...Or about half of that soundtrack really.

Other modern ideas might be something like techno beats for that high energy 'get up and move' feeling. Or even some pop like the sort you would put together for a road-trip. Music you could sing to as the landscape goes by.

I don't think he would be opposed to modern music as he is one of the most prevalent/relevant and still utilized (in a manner of speaking) gods of the Hellenic pantheon. I could see him as having a modernized attitude. His nature just seems like one well suited to moving with the times.

One song that comes to mind with the above post is Jorn's Traveller.

This is probably too late for made plans, but the line of thought is getting fun for me now!

I heard a song hit the radio that would have been great to mention if I had thought about it.

Though, thanks to Saturday night live (an old skit comedy show) every time I hear it all I can think about is the line "I've got a fever! And the only cure, is more cow-bell!"

DOn't fear the reaper was one I had in mind and it is never to late. I would like to create a playlist for a lot fo the Gods I work for. SO, any suggestions is great; thank you.

I believe Hermes, the Greek god of crossing boundaries and being a messenger god, would enjoy anything by Led Zeppelin. Immigrant Song being my top choice

My slow-acting brain managed to percolate up another song that would be great, though not necessarily for Hermes.

AC/DC's ever iconic 'thunder-struck'. At the very least it would be a shoe-in for Zeus or even Thor.

A rock anthem for God's of lightning and thunder, who were very much akin to rock-stars of their day. Seemed too apropos to not mention.
