Good statement, and practical. I also believe this right, why? Because a label is just a label, all gods can do everything. They can destroy, they can heal, and they can give/take life.
I am not new to witchcraft. In some form or another, I have been doing it all my life. Of late, however, I have come to rethink my position on what exactly I am praying to. The truth is that I have no idea. I was wondering if there is a way anyone knows of a way that I could gain some clarity in this mater. Is there any kind of meditation process or ritual that I could perform to connect with the other side(by other side I mean who or what I pray to)? I have been asking myself and (God, the Gods, and/or whatever else) to reveal the path that has been set for me to follow but I have been granted little to no certainty as to whether there is even anything that I could benefit from following.
Most gods of the ancient world are as - or even more at times - human as we are. The gods of the Old Testament are often misunderstood as Christian and Jewish translators refuse to acknowledge that before 600 BC the Jews worshiped more than one god, keeping YHWH as their highest God. Only YHWH and his wife were allowed to be represented in the temple, and she, well her tree, was ripped out after Babylon rule made them paranoid. Even the New Testaments talks of more than one god. The first chapter of John admits this, when translated correctly:
1. In the beginning was the counsel, and it was a counsel of/with the gods, and God [YHWH] was in the counsel.
2. The same [YHWH] was in the begining with the gods.
3. All things were made by him [YHWH] ... etc...
But, try telling your Evangelical friends this and they'll likely go Biblical on you, as the saying goes.
In for example Hindu or another Eastern teachings like philosophy of Samkhya (also Sankhya), or Brahmasutras and others texts there is an evolution. So, you (according those spiritual teachings) can in a future life be a god too. When you obtain - for example through meditation - spiritual powers.
Are you good or bad? :-)
I believe that their is no good or bad diety because morality is something that society has created to concern humans. There is no moral truth in the universe. All you have are laws.
This is an interesting topic, if we talk about energy terms there has to be a balance between the positive and negative polls on the energy spectrum, so it would go the same for thought conscious energies wouldn't it?
In order to maintain a balance there has to be be a "good" and a "bad" because that precious borderline between them would go unbalanced.
If you think in life terms, if there is too much positive, there will eventually be a big wave of negative because it goes much like a parallel to our life system domain.
So by following the energy patterns, deities or gods also follow the parallel pattern in order to keep balance with the equal balance.
SO even if a thought conscious was doing only "good" it was also setting up the parallel limitation of doing something "bad."
