I do find it hard to read even though I do know how to text and speak it, it also makes it look like the people are young and might not be taken seriosly with it. It is also very annoying to read it if theres a lot of it.
Hi everyone.....I hate 'text talk' but I am guilty of using 'lol'. I can understand it if I read it slowly but it becomes boring and I lose interest and sometimes struggle in what I'm reading. I feel sorry for those of us on this site whose first language is not English, if we struggle to read it, what would they make of it????
yea im young but and i have played online games such as runescape rappelz wow (for a brief time and others and some people take text speak to a new extreme. i used to be one of the few that spelled all my words out. i quit a while ago though
I consider lol and rolf as acronyms as it spells laugh out loud. Text speak is when they cut letters from words mostly because there just plain lazy. If you are to lazy to type you or are just stop typing. It's just plain laziness.
People shoul know better not to text speak in the forums also becaue its really annoying when someone post in the forums with text speak, its hard to read and sometimes they dont exactly write out fully on what they are talking or asking for. So please dont also do it in the chat. Its part of the rules you AGREED!! to them so don't break them its that simple.
My personal opinion is :text speak is so annoying by two reasons
-For not native speaker it look like enigma code to be cracked .It requires some serious brainstorming for certain ammount of time and most of us will not be bothered .Why loose your personal time trying to communicate with someone who can notcare enough to type by intelligent way ?
-It speaks very unwell for its user ,because it gives the impression that you are or lazy or withwriting difficulties .In first case it puts you in bad light and in second person may approach you with wrong method ,because he is kinda misleaded of your typing ways .
My main point is that if you are about to seek help and respect here ,put some effort to fight the bad habit called text speak .You can do it if you put yourself into it .
to show my age, i was a kid when text talk first began, [msn abreviations at the time] it never appealed to me because i was one of those kids who liked proper english and read Victorian Classics and Shakespearian plays, so when text talk started up, i picked up a few basic things, but i never used it. my friends find it annoying when i text them i use fill sentances. now it's geting very annoying for me coming to a forum where i want to socialize with people with the same 'intrests' as me, only to have someone ask 'a very importan question' and get consonance with no vowles.
