There is a pretty decent selection in the Magical Arts and Wicca sections in the bookstore. The problems are from the paranormal teen & romance sections. (I enjoy some of these books, but I know the spells aren't real.)

while this is true, some cannot just buy The Goddess is in the Details or rent a copy of Wicca for Life from their library. most on SoM and indeed in Spell Casters are in the 13-16 range, and their parents might not understand, so they'd get in trouble bringing a new age book home.

while there are many sites and sources online to get information, SoM is full of witches who claim to of been studying for years and know what they're talking about so someone who see's spells on this site who doesn't know what is and isn't real magic will assume that the spells and articles posted here are real. when i started out, i had books on the religion, none on magic, so my first spell book has a lot of real spells, but some non-working. one or two i thought sounded cool [like turn into a cat i'll admit it] and others just sounded so hilariously absurd i had to put them in. i didn't know what magic could and could not do [also i was afraid of magic for that reason] so how was i to know someone couldn't become a cat? we need to start cleaning out the spells and article sections. sadly we can't cuz only Pet can delete stuff, but it needs to be done. filing it under fantasy won't help. there are some working spells in the fantasy section, but because they involve faeries or dragons or whatever it's classified as such. before this, these spells were trick spells, and i found some working spells under that as well so it can get confusing at times.

You're right about that... not all of the fantasy spells are trash, but there are lots of them that are. I looked under fairy spells but actually found stuff that was mostly how to summon a fairy... not sure if it would work or not, so I kind of left it alone and didn't do anything with it afterwards. There was some fluff though that I down-rated and marked as spam, though.

Yeah the spellcasters coven has a very bad reputation, in general people look at spellcasters in someones profile and think 'pft whatever.'

It shouldnt be that way which is why it needs clearing and fixing up, to gain a better reputation.

Just because you are in this coven doesn't mean you get a bad rep. I mean some of the members here are actually respected members of the site. Yeah the coven has a bad name, but it's how you act that people judge you on.

That's true... If this coven really does have a bad reputation, I think it's important that others outside of here know that not everyone here posts that stuff. I personally think all of those spells need to be deleted so we don't look so bad...

I just hope it stops... more of that stuff is only gonna mean us looking worse and worse... i just hope somebody deletes all of it. Deleting the entire section would be even better because then nobody has the appropriate category to post the spell under.
