The greatest book I've read on the subject; as it compiles, summarizes, and makes clear the content of the greatest alchemical tomes; is the Book of Aquarius. It is available as a free PDF on forgottenbooks.com, though it may be offline at the moment while it is being updated to the new edition. This is an absolute must read for anyone interested in alchemy; the science, the magick, and the underlying philosophy behind both.

The book I was introduced with was The Weisser's Concise Guide to Alchemy by Brian Cotnoir and James Wasserman. It's a small, very simply book, but it offers direction into further studies and is like a book of the basics of Alchemy.

FaithSeeker would that book have anything about the philosopher's stone in it?

A thousand years ago it may well have been possible to learn all there was to learn about Alchemy;but not now! The subject is vast!
Anybody starting to understand Alchemy should try to understand first what it means. What, exactly, is Alchemy?
Alchemy was born the first time a human being thought, "If I mix that with this, what will happen?"
New medical drugs are being found every day by Chemists, Scientists. Every hour of every day there will be a new discovery.
And, strictly speaking, it is all Alchemy. It is the curiosity of Mankind.

Yep, Sir Isaac Newton died in 1727, so it's unlikely one is going to be able to call him up on the phone.

As for the Philosopher's Stone, as I said in another post, the idea that it was a physical object that could turn lead into gold was something done to purposely mislead people about the nature of the alchemical work. What it was actually talking about was achieving enlightenment and bliss...transmuting the baser life (lead) into an enlightened life (gold)

Aether,

First off I would not summon Isaac for the simple reason that he had nothing to do with alchemy. He was an early physicist not a chemist... Which chemistry is another form of alchemy.

Second, you want to liquifylife energy. I believe you are looking for the elixir of life. Now in my research which I have done, there is no such thing, but all of the alchemists notes are encrypted.

I would suggest knowing what the Emerald stone is and what it describes. That is the base for all alchemy. Any question message me.

Sir Isaac Newton not an Alchemist? Really? He is listed as an Alchemist in every book of reference. Newton did a lot more than discover Gravity and the Calculus.

Do you mean the book, The Emerald Tablet, or the actual stone? If you meant the first, I agree wholly agree with you. It's a great place to start and can probably be purchased in the site's attached store.
