Creating a Familiar?

It's accturly one of the eastist things in magic all you have to do is mediate look into your self focuse carful and ask may a faimlar please step forward and you will see a animal. (in your mind at first because a faimlar can't enter this plane there astral spirts once you have one you can astral project to see one and no you can not change it into anther animal. ) rember to to respect it for you have not chosen them they have chosen you to help ask what should it be called its gender and thank it for chossing to help you then reach out with your real hand eyes closed imagen it's infront of you place your hand on its bodye(head back etc) and image your engerys conecting to make a bond.once that's done the should follow you just about any were just rember to trust them for trust and respect keeps the bond strong.

ps rember certain animals have certain ablilates

Oh ya one more thing you can't create one they are alive and have had there own story's to tell to treat them like a tool and not a living thing that has chosen to help you will make it shy away from you

Shadow, what you have posted is incorrect. Did you read the posts in this thread? Familiars are not living animals, they are energetic beings created by the magic user to assist them in the same manner as a servitor, tulpa, or fetch.

I have a soul connection with my dog, before I learned anything about magic or esoterism I always knew I had placed a piece of me inside him. I wasnt even out looking for a dog but i saw him and... Aomething happened. He was coal black except for a white mark where the third eye would be. And from the moment I held him it felt as though he had been created just for me. I think a familiar can be both living and non living, the special cat of my childhood still shows up and sleeps on my bed or rubs against my legs once in awhile. As for the person who asked the initial question, I got a flash that perhaps a bird would suit you? A little canary or something more majestic. Look around and when you meet the right one, you will both know :)

Ok my very large brightly colored spider persists to be near. We have very cold weather in a few months so I wonder what will happen when the weather changes. I have thought about a terrarium, but want the thoughts of others. Part of me thinks let nature be and see if it is back in the fall or comes inside on its own.

I think a cat spirit makes a good familiar.

I have to agree with Jack on this one. I have had my familiar for going on fourteen years now, and she has the form of a wood nymph. I didn't summon her on purpose, but appeared during some emotional turmoil I was experiencing at the time. She also acts completely independent of myself, but warns me of danger and advises me during magickal practices. She does not seem to travel beyond 200 meters of me, and likes to do her own thing when I don't need her.

Hrrrrm. I'm about to throw a wrench in this topic's gears.

I've read all sorts of things about familiars in my research and from personal experiences, it really depends on the energy you work with. I've experienced all of the things people above are talking about. I've experienced a familiar on the astral as an animated, autonomous spirit. I've fed them energy, created them on the astral and yes, I also have a familiar-as-a-pet. Which one is right definition? Who the heck knows.
