This was not the case at all with the necromancer I knew... A can't say anything about the aging thing, i'm not sure on that. But the dead she conversed with were entirely willing, it's not a practice for those who don't respect the dead...

The person I knew spent hours every day dedicated to honoring the dead, so... It's more a means of divination that requires a lot of time and devotion.

True. I've only read about it. And more often then not it is a divination practice. But if you don't honor them, and just brandy about with the dead. Then, would you be willing? Probably not. Unless if you were just plain lonely.. I don't know. I'm not a necromancer, nor do I know any. I was just trying to give NW some of what I've researched.

Working and divining with the dead will not make you age faster. Even if you try to summon out of force, it will not always work. Casting Magick is like a conversation between the practitioner and the energy affected. You can speak (cast) as much as you want, but unless someone listens (recieves and accepts on some level), you'd pretty much be talking to yourself.

You can look up those who work with the spirits of the deceased, ancestor working, any path oriented towards work dealing with the dead, etc. Be respectful of the spirits you work with. Ensure you are grounded and centered.

There are many things to consider when looking into necromancy: One being what you'd really like to practice. Necromancy can cover a wide variety of topics, but is not raising the dead to become the living again. Such a practice is impossible.
Commonly, necromancy is defined as death magicks. Usually, it is seen as simply communicating with and divining with the dead. Whether you use a Ouiga board, bones, grave yards, ghost water, graveyard dirt, coffin nails, etc, divination based on the dead and assorted items associated with them would be necromancy.
Necromancy can also include the summoning of things, like spirits, ghosts, and/or demonic entities. This does not mean anything will physically take a form for you, but instead the energies that make up the being (if it bother to shows up) will collect near you. Being polite and calm, as well as offering up a small drink or food, can greatly help with this. Using symbols and names associated with a specific spirit or entity may help summon one of them.
Among other practices are those of ancestral worship, or acknowledging and revering the spirits and ghosts of deceased family members. This practice is seen across the globe, but be careful if you have a specific name for it that you did not create - many names are tribe or culture specific and using them would be appropriatively racist.
As well, some people may simply choose to practice in a graveyard, mausoleum, crypt, or catacomb - in other words a burial place - using the death energies near by to enhance their own workings. This, too, is a form of necromantic work. Many cults (both respectable priesthoods/covens and those like seen in the film industry) may choose to work near a cemetery simply because of the privacy. Many people tend to stay away from these necropolises because they hold negative connotations ingrained in the mind for centuries.
These are just some basic things considered necromancy - there are more, definitely, and there are probably specific practices with names that follow necromantic ideals. Hope this helps.
Good luck and be careful in your endeavors!

Necromancy has nothing to do with demons, unless they are specifically involved with the energy of death. Also, using terms outside of it's culture is not a racist thing, it is just ignorant if you are not using or understanding the term properly. A huge example of that is the word karma.

Personally, I would think a necropolis or city like that would be perfect for using death energies. I have no personal negative connotation with it. For me, it is something beyond positive or negative. We can view it as bad, good, or whatever, but when you boil down to it, it is just another aspect of the cycle of death, recycling, birthing, and existence of energy. I view death, not as an end, but as a disbursement. It is a force of nature.

Actually, the practice of summoning demonic entities was categorized under necromancy because a common belief was that these demons were kept in the various realms of the dead. This association caused many to view them as things that did not truly have life, but were the things that just existed. Some examples are Tartarus, the spirit of pit from Greco-Roman mythology, being the holding cell of demons and monsters that were banished to the underworld. As well, many people who viewed things from a Judeo-Christian stand point believed that demonic entities were kept by Satan in Hell, the place of the damned souls. Similar views were held across the Euro-Asian continent, and would be why some people view the summoning of demons as part of necromancy.

From what i have learned is that necromancy can be extremely polite or downright disrespectful. Old grimoires such as the Grimoire Verum and The Grand Grimoire use methods wich are extremely disrespectful. But since by definition necromancy is the divination usimg the dead then that would include alot of other practices wich are very respectful. Usually offerings are given to the dead. I gues it could be as respectful or disrespectful as one wants it to be

This is very offensive to necromancy as I am a necromancer, Shamanism has a lot more limitations on what a necromancer can do with dead. Don't ever insult my religion againi

I am a necromancer following my own path.

First... I will like to tell you necromancy doesn't need to be evil or disrespectful as the rest of these ppl tell you since they don't know nothing about it to begin with.
