First off, please do not speak to me as though I am ignorant. I am well aware of the location of Serbia.
America has no responsibility to help other countries in my opinion. Explain to me why the government should find money , that we don't have, to send to another country to help out it's poor...when in it's own country poverty is on the rise? If you have poor and starving children in your country, take it up with your own government. They are, after all, supposed to be responsible for your welfare.
Secondly, America as a whole has in the past given MORE than enough money to different countries in time of need, and to my knowledge, it has never been repaid. The debt was simply wiped out.
The war about oil? Really? Because this is the first time since the war started that oil prices have dropped. Clearly, either we were doing something terribly wrong...or that is simply false.
Us being there has it's good and bad. Some people want us there, some do not. There rammifications of us pulling out right now is far to great. The country has not demonstrated that it is ready to deal with the violence on it's own, and there are still mixed views on if we should stay or go by the people there.
I will not stop expressing my opinions. Deal, or get over it.
I don't agree with everything the government does, but I am VERY sick and tired of people from other countries ASSUMING that because the government does it, it means every American agrees with it.

The U.S. has done a pretty good job of pissing off the other half of the world. Some of its our fault some of its not.
Lindz, there are people in the U.S. trying to help Africans. Plus, in case you haven't noticed, our country's got some issues to. If we don't do something there's the possibility that we could have another Great Depression. Oh and when we drop off food there, people will kill the people we're giving it to(kill us too) and take it for themselves. Or the corrupt government will prevent supplies from getting to the people.
Okay this should be fun. I'm going to attept to explain why Africa's so screwed up. When Columbus came to the America's he enslaved the Native Americans. Many died from European diseases or harsh labor. Eventually a man- if I could remeber how to spell his name I'd put it down here, ts something like Bartlomue or someting- came to the America's and saw how badly the "Indians" were being treated and said we should use Africans. Now here's something not a lot of people know cause they don't pay attention during history class: There was already a slave trade in Africa!! It was more tame but it was still slavery. The Americans just trded with the Africans for them. They would trade cheap guns for slaves. AFRICANS would sell AFRICANS to the Americans. They still did it when they knew the cruelty of the Americans toward slavery. Oooh I almost forgot to put something down that was important. SLAVERY WAS NOT ONLY IN THE AMERICA!!! In fact, it happened in the Carribean and was crueler there. So even after the people in both the America's stopped buying slaves, the was still a HUGE civil war going on there. Now there's a whole bunch of tribal hatred a.k.a. you inslaved my anscestors so now I'm going to kill you. Stuff like that. Oh and here's and interesting thought:
England=where the English live
France=where the French live
African Countries=where the Europeans decided which part of the land they were going to take.

You are right Catty, the President can scare congress members into agreeing with him. But again, since the majority are Democratic, that would mean they were "bought" and not acting on behalf of the people who voted them in.
My personal problem with the dem party is that they are so against everything Bush, yet so many voted with him. That's hypocritical at best.
And....bless you for knowing your slave trade history. I was sure people thought we simply landed on africa's shore and rounded up a bunch of tribes all on our own.
Um just so you all get it THE U.S. IS A MELTING POT!!! We all believe different things. There are bad people everywhere they aren't just all in one country. There are people here saying that all Muslims are terroeists and there are people in Iraq saying "Death To America"(btw we are The United States OF America not America). There are rapists in every country, there are thieves in every country, and there are GOOD, GENUINE people in every country. Not everyone in The U.S. is bad and not everyone is good.
