Its funny you ask that now Ava, since can now clearly see it from the other side of things now. ;)
I also agree whole heartily with Stone's theory, we have all these people jumping to say Hey I'll be Priest or Priestess. But those so willing to take over don't seem to be to interested in teaching or actually leading a group of their peers. In the public forums I can see a small handful that may be decent at the position. But funny how all those in this thread asking for the job, show no history nor experience in the public forums whatsoever.
Though we appreciate the offer of help, but my question is once in the position how many are going to actually do what is needed? How many are going to realize that they are in way over their heads? How long before they give up or find something better to spend their time on like the others?
As a site we are the leading website offering all that we do in the Magick Community. The only way to promote good Covens, teaching and spells is to take the position seriously. Don't just offer because the Coven(s) in question follow your path or it seems cool.
We need to start taking pride in our practice, and teaching that integrity to newer members. Give the older members a reason to stick around, and the younger good teachers.
Wasn't intending to rub anything in. It's just that sometimes we get caught up in things and forget that there is another side to all things. And unless you are standing on that side, it may be impossible to see or understand. I was merely applauding you on the fact that you can now understand it as we have for so long.
I've been here for over 5 years Draggy, only about 2 or 3 months out of that was spent... on the other side.
Not only that, but I've had this account for a while now, and am full aware of how it is with regular members.
I can understand how you meant not to "rub it in", but keep in mind I'd like to put it behind me. Being reminded of it still hits a soft spot, so give me some time. :)
Perhaps a change in leadership should be offered to slightly active covens, and for totally inactive covens (such as Twilight Vampires) they should be straight up deleted. If the P/P is active enough, but they have no or few members (such as Twisted Nether, The Immortal's Keep and other small groups) be warned of possible deletion within a given time (like 3 months) if it doesn't get more active so that they have time to try to fix it up. Then when they run out of time have the mods and Pet discuss it. If there is no reply from the coven's who are warned (aka the P/P doesn't care or isn't on often enough) then straight out removal or deletion.
Something like that for covens would work. Like a whole system like back when covens were first made.

89032 When the covens were made they were done for the right reason. Why makes everyone in a certain coven suffer just because the P/P have decided they no longer want to be P/P? I mean there are plenty of other members that would love to step up and take over, but since the P/P are MIA there is nothing that can be done about it unless Pet steps in.
Like with Teen Witches just because their P/P are MIA and can't be replaced right at this moment is no reason to delete them. Same goes for all covens. Not all covens will have a lot of members and maybe that is how the P/P like it? I know the coven I just became Priestess of only had 6 members when I started and now we are up to 22. That coven had been low on members for some time now and just because it was low on members if we did what your saying the coven would have been deleted instead of having the chance for someone new to come in and help build it back up. The Priest and I have been busting our butts in the last couple weeks to do this and we have.
I applaud those in this thread that have stepped up and said they would like to help. I do agree that which ever coven or whom ever takes over need to be serious about it and not treat it like a joke. It is hard work, but if you truly want it your more then happy to do it.
Thank you Sue.
You've put this very well, and my thoughts exactly. ^-^
I understood there were those power-hungry, but sometimes it's o.k to look into the crowd of members, and try to help those fading covens by taking volunteers.
Sorry for the double post, but I do not speak out in favor of keeping Twilight Vampires.
That's one coven I personally don't think is a necessity to this website.
Just an opinion. O_O
Most of the time what creates an inactive Coven, is inactive members. After awhile of nothing P/P begin to lose interest just like their members, before you know it a Coven becomes a mere floating shell with the occasional member wanting to see more activity from it. When that one member speaks up finally, there is usually not much that can be done except for Pet stepping in. Though I would like to think one may have a better chance of having the P/P replaced if the members themselves care enough to be active. Which usually does not end up being the case.
As far as keeping around certain Covens and not deleting them out of not wanting to make the other members suffer is a bit off. If anything you end up helping them. In the past couple years Pet did allow people to create Covens, and that itself turned into a nightmare and kept the already busiest member of this site up to all hours deleting those new Covens. We had everything from the pokeman club to role player's elite. Those that were allowed to remain had so long to acquire a set number of members and be considered a Coven or it was wiped.
So in all theory if we go ahead and wipe those 7 groups that still have yet to become Covens, we will drive those members to more active Covens which in the long run will benefit them. Out of the 32 Covens we do have, almost every facet of Magick is covered. (As we do not count The Order, it is Admin only.)
For those groups that are Covens and inactive, many P/P put their facebook/myspace accounts on their profiles, have you made an attempt to contact these inactive people by other means? A lot of times if you contact them and explain to them how you feel and your great plans of revamping the place...they may very well log on and pass the torch. ;)
And the lovely Avarice, I am more than fully aware of how long you have been visiting this site along with your many exploits. As far as where you may or may not be, I'm sure is on your merits and them alone. I am quite sure I had nothing to do with it, so if attempting to explain the different views of this ongoing issue feels like something is being rubbed in, then I assure you that isn't the intention and you have my sincerest apologies. =)
