I'm not sure as to the actual amount of time it takes to become a contributor. Like was said earlier, I think it depends on how much you post and otherwise "contribute" to the site. Though there's no real guidelines for what that is anywhere that I can find.
Titles and ranks aren't really all that important to the functionality of the site. If you're here to learn, learn. Don't worry about that stuff.
Ranks are handy mostly for coven leaders I think. Knowledgable members can see when people have been marked a fluffy, of course we would be more wary of letting them into the coven as someone has taken the time to mark them as such.
I would question them much more than if someone who was ranked a novice applied.
Of course, the system is flawed, and I have seen people marked as fluffy who should not have been.
I tend to use the system only when people are vocally fluffy on chat or in the forums, or to rectify a mistake when someone has been labelled fluffy and are simply new to their practice, or have had an argument with the wrong person.
Simply so coven leaders have something more to go on- espescially if that person has never posted on this site before.
Interesting view Hadit, it would be nice to allow coven leaders to see who has been marked fluffy on their applications. As, I myself have to gander singly on their posts, and rate their preformances off that, but sometimes they don't even have the history. So even then it's a wage to allow them entry to the coven.
If the future holds the possibility of leaders viewing the fluffy ranking it wouldn't make things easier. Leaders have and always will have the difficulty in deciding who enters their covens. Hadit provides a good depiction of what the rankings really are like. Very few of them are accurate and the majority of the time a lower ranking is due to someone talking to them on a bad day. All I can suggest is the interesting habit of allowing your members to vote on applications, that is if you don't already.
Ive no idea how it works but I noticed after posting a lot of stuff on the forums, my old account got beginner ranking, it better than no ranking I guess :D
Legend the amount you post will not give you a rank, it's the knowledge and experience in learnings in your post that will tell the Knoweldgeable and Adepts what rank to place you, sometimes they don't know right away, so your account gets put on "No Rank", then it goes from there, any fluffy business, they rank you "Fluffly", if you show improvement and show you are learning at least a bit about your path(s) then they will more likely add you at least "Beginner", then the list goes on and on.
Taking instructive criticism and not taking offence to it, is a good way of showing maturity around this site.
I really dont understand why people keep making threads about reptuation. You really shouldn't really worry about reputation. You should only just focus on the content and topics you can contribute to the site and the forums etc.
There's articles on this like the Lovely Personified said. Search it up, there is nothing wrong with not having a rank, don't ask about it for chances are you will not get it. Personified is right, and take her word for it.
Moon_Wind, I was only curious. I saw I just had "member" on my profile and I wanted to know how high that was. It was purely curiosity and that curiosity has been satisfied.
Though someone mentioned voting members into a coven. I think that sounds like a really good idea. I think having Priest/esses pick who could be good members then handing over the applications to members of their coven to choose which applicants would be best to allow into the coven would be a really good way to go. And if anyone has a serious problem with an applicant, it will give them more opportunity to say so to their higher ups.
