newbie help please

i found a spell that says i need lotus, does that mean the lotus flower or is there another lotus i should know about?

The flower. Wiccans use a lot of herbs, so be sure to start a garden! 8D

Theres dried lotus pods too. Im not sure if the difference matters or not, or for your specific need.

Merry Meet lilbambi, I am a Wiccan and a herbalist. You don't have to use lotus if it is too difficult to get a hold of. You can substitute it with something else but I don't know the spell so can't advise you. Spells were originally made with ingredients that were readily available from the herb and kitchen gardens, so they were always easy to get a hold of. Don't believe everything you read about eye of newt etc....

mugwort is a good substitute for almost everything considering it's ability to amplify spells. Peppermint could also be used as a sub.
