Hi, I am new to this site. So far, I've seen posts from children and adolescents. Are there any adults here? Maybe I'm clicking on wrong links, but it seems that it is a site for teens. Am I right? Please let me know, because I am an adult and don't want to be on the site that is geared toward kids.
Thank you.
Natalia,
Hello. No this site is for all ages from what I can tell. I myself am 28 years old. Granted that it seams that most of the forum posts are from younger teens, but there are still us adults roaming the halls ;) (If you know what I mean.
The site's layout is fairly simplistic and so far I think most members are about my age, late teens.
I think its hard to know who is telling the truth. If I know a spell can work, on a regular basis I will go for it, but only with that knowledge prior to its castation
It is my hope that over time the immature people will just leave and not negativily effect this website.
I didn't focus on any age when created the website. Instead I focused on magic experience. The majority of the website is dedicated to people new to magic (as it would turn out that usually means younger people)
However, with the soon to be addition of Covens, and experienced level caster should be able to find this website useful. Experienced casters can form their own Covens which can discuss topics which would be far above the heads of new magic users.
Likewise a Coven can be made for new magic users, aged 25+ for example, thus you wouldn't have to worry about the immaturity of some users.
Covens have their own forums btw, but members can still post on these.
Oh ya, on the same topic, thanks for the remark about 'simplicity'.
The original version of this website was started in 1997. I did some searches on Altavista (Google wasn't around yet) and there were NO websites about magic. Not a single one. This was the first.
However, if you read some other posts in this forum you'll see a bit of our history, and this website appeared and disappeared over the years for different reasons, server crashes, funding problems, etc.
When this new version was started a couple years ago, and then the new layout was added in the spring this year, I looked and found MILLIONS of websites about magic. From 0 to millions in just 10 years, but one thing I noticed was that most of these other websites were complicated, hard to navigate, dark and cluttered.
So I tried to keep things simple. 15% of visitors still have a screen resolution of 800x640 and I try to keep them in mind when designing the site, which limits the amount of screen space.
I won't bore you with all the details, however, I did want to say that if you have any ideas about the website format, layout, improvements, problems, etc, please post them in the Comments forum.
