what i get for thinking

first off i want to start by saying i dont want to offend anybody by what i am saying here, so please come into this with an open mind, and try to be willing to think about this without being biased based on your beliefs.

ok so with that out of the way i will start.

Pray: 1. to offer devout petition, praise, thanks, etc., to a deity

invocation: 1. the act of invoking or calling upon a deity, spirit, etc., for aid, inspiration, or the like.

so i have given this a lot of thought, and i have come to realize that even though most people (in my opinion) seperate Magick and (in some, if not most cases) Christianity.

If you look at Prayer indirectly (at least if you look at it indirectly in the sense that i did) you would see that you are asking what you believe to be your God for aid, protection, and so on and so forth, which is basically the same thing as casting a spell, just with a spell you are trying to "will" your wishes into existance, but upon looking at Prayer in this different Light, i realized that prayer could be a type of Magick or Spell Casting in its self.

If you are trying to cast a spell or you are praying, then arnt you actually, in a way, doing the same thing?

basically what i am saying is, that if you look past all of your religous differences, and try to think about our common thread (which is the practice of Magick) in the way that i have presented, is it possible that we are all doing the same thing, useing our own "willpower" to accomplish our own desires, just useing different methods? and thus shouldnt we all just get along with one another

I know for me, magic and prayer are inextricably intwined. I can pray without doing a "spell," but i can't do a "spell" without prayer. Actually the deeper i get in my practice, i use "spells" less and less.

It is common practice (but i hesitate to say human nature) to focus on differences versus focusing on likenesses. Unfortunately.

yes, i know what you mean, it just hit me and i had to continue the thought about it. i even did some meditation last night and thinking about other possibilities with the path of thought that i had found.
