For being such a techie age with things such as google and wiki and all those other search sites, I find that probably, oh lets say 75%(if not more) of the people on here that asks simple questions don't even bother to do their own research.
So I must ask then, why? I mean seriously, have schools stopped teaching how to research for projects anymore? Do they figure that they already know how to use things like google? Yet, not that long ago(my senior yr in college, a yr ago) I took a class that could have been renamed "How to use google" because of the simplicity of the class and its material(I should of taken it long before the time I did, but I switched majors and all, and well ya).
Personally, I find that doing my own research helps me learn it better, as well as summarize things for my own use later on. I also find that while doing one search I'll come across other related(or sometimes unrelated) topics that catch my eye and I'll go looking into that as well.
Lol. Maybe.
I do somthing simulare when I give advise and so on.
But also give difrent ways to the subjeckt.
Many ways to do things.
I do wonder if I have some kind of magical google tho.
If I wonder about somthing. I send out a search.
To bad it's like google. I gett in all kinds of related and non related things on that ability to;)
and also it's lagging.
Lol

We don't really need to call out specific threads here. Just visit the threads in question and try to promote research.
I think there is a stigma around the word "research" (most of the people not doing it are the younger kids) and it seems to imply boring, brain-wracking academic labor. Google is your friend! The internet makes all sorts of information readily available and it takes maybe 2 or 3 minutes to read each source. Just learn to back up information and ask around if you still question things. This is not the only magick-based website out there, not by a long shot.
I should find this essay "Is The Internet Making Us Stupid?" (or something like that, forgot the author -- I'll have to dig through my books), and type it out here. I understand books aren't easily obtainable for some people for a varying number of reasons, but be patient, and make due with what you have.

So a year ago a newbie came to the chat and asked about psi balls. So I told him "try forums or Google"... A former mod comes and attacks me "you aren't nice to newbies, you're a bad person". And she writes it in the mod forum and I get gagged for promoting common sense.
