This is a Continuation of the Information i posted in Darkermaster's Alchemy thread.

Planetary Tinctures;
In order to move on to the creation and efficient use of a planetary tincture you should have a basic understanding of the Seven Lords...or the seven ruling celestial bodies. There is a post here that explains these(http://www.spellsofmagic.com/read_post.html? post=219904)remove the space) There is a lot of symbolism in each of the seven lords more than could fit in a single thread I'm sure. I am a firm believer that the amount of effort put into something is directly relative to the amount of energy that thing will carry onto its purpose, so do some research and discover what plant will best serve your planetary purpose.

You should begin the tincture on the first day associated with your planet that occurs after a new moon. The herb chosen should be harvested and dried slowly and crushed by hand.Pour one seventh of your Oleum Salis into a glass jar. Then add sufficient amount of herb to be covered well by the oil.Place the jar in a warm dark space. within a day or two your potent Oleum Salis should have extracted a red tinture.filter your oil and add an equal amount of pure plant spirit(ethanol). immediately seal your jar.the two will not mix together.
place this in a warm dry place as well. the plant spirit will draw up the spiritual properties of the plant oil below and the residual impurities in the red tincture will remain at the point where the two substances meet.Some of the color will be absorbed by the spirit and the lower tincture will become slightly paler in color.it takes a while for this to happen, 1-3 months depending on the temperature. 3 months at 65f(18c)or 1 month at 90f(30c)
pour off the spirit and preserve it in a glass dark colored bottle as light will affect the potency. take between 2-8 drops of the tincture in a glass of wine or water a day starting on the first planetary day during a waxing moon. this tincture will imbue the caster with properties of the corresponding planet and will aid in all energy workings performed. doing these processes on a regular basis purifies the spirit and brings the caster into closer contact with the energies that are the workings of reality. :)

A quick reference of plants rules by the seven lords;
SATURN
horsetail(equisetum arvense); remember that the nature of saturn is one of destruction and rebirth, so there are many poisonous plants ruled by this lord. be sure to use a plant guide to verify your herbs before consuming them
JUPITER
lemon balm(melissa officinalis)
MARS
hawthorne(crataegus); the root of the stinging nettle(urtica dioica)the leaves have hairs that will break off in the skin and are poisonous enough to cause some serious irritation so be wary collecting the roots.
SUN
rosemary(rosemarinus officinalis)
VENUS
motherwort(leonurus cardiaca)or lady's mantle(alchemilla)
MERCURY
skullcap(scutelleria)caraway(carum carvi)marjoram(origanum marjorana) oregano(origanum vulgare)

MAKING HOLY WATER for CONSECRATION and PURIFITCATION rites

when you are making your sal salis, save a bit of your caput mortuum(deaths head, the residue from filtering your ash)because you will need it in your ritual.

this ritual assumes that you have an alter, many practitioners do not and that is ok, but all my personal magic is ceremonial so it will have that twist. if anyone needs any more information or wants some help adapting the ritual to their needs mail me i love helping.


Place a glass of filtered rainwater or spring water on your alter along with a dish of sal salis and a diash of caput mortuum.
Perform the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram(if we dont already have this info in our forums i would be glad to add it just let me know)
you may also wish to charge your chakras if you feel that the LBRP has not sufficiently aligned your energies.
Face north with your alter in fornt of you and place the palm of your right hand over the sal salis. take a few moment to pull energy down from your crown or kether point and visualize this brilliant white light flowing from your hand into the salts.
Here i will put the prayer i use.(this does not exclude you laveyans just replace a prayer to divinity with a request of your own godhood)
"May this fire-purified salt of the earth become a heavenly salt possessing the wisdom of creation.May it sustain my soul,spirit and body and preserve them from corruption.May it nourish the earth and fortify my soul.Amen."
this is direct from the source i leaned from, feel free to change it any way you see fit as long as you are capturing the spirit of the prayer and keeping it in your mind you will be fine.
extend your hand over the ash and allow the light to flow from your palm once again.
"May this ash return to the eternal fount of living water.May it be a fertile earth.May it bring forth the tree of life.Amen"
walk around your altar to the eastern side and face the west.
"in the salt of eternal wisdom,in the water of preparation,an the ash whence the new earth comes forth,be all things accomplished unto the age of ages.Amen"
as you are saying this add your sal salis to the water. preserve this in a glass bottle, this does NOT need to be a dark glass for light will only charge this solution not damage it.
Perform the LBRP once again. as soon as you have finished return the caput mortuum o the earth.

Planetary Tinctures are substances that are used for general practice, and effect the casters constitution in many ways. They are meant to be created and used over and over again for the process of distilling your spirit and allowing for your ethereal and physical body to become synced and to allow the energies you work with to flow through you with greater ease. The focus during each alchemical process is not the product but instead the humility and focus of the chemist. Each time you set out to make your sal salis, you use this flame to allow for the burning away of mental and spiritual impurities. meditation while you are creating the ash is important. when you create the planetary tinctures you are aligning yourself with the celestial bodies you work with and better understand their workings each time.

a second substance that is used in the lesser circulation of alchemy is the "fluid condenser". there are many types of fluid condensers of all forms, solid, gaseous and liquid. the term fluid refers to the fluid nature of the energy these substances collect not the actual substance itself.the most useful form of these is the liquid so that's what we will be focusing on.(not to mention that these are the only ones I've ever personally worked with)

Liquid Fluid Condensers are specially charged potions prepared and used in magical operation, particularly in creating talismans and consecration of magical implements.

An important ingredient in these potions is tincture of gold. Gold is the symbolic achievement of unity with the divine and is used to charge the condensers with the goal of spiritual refinement.
To create the tincture of gold you will need a piece of gold. i have a ring i use and you will be able to use this over and over for a long time(i have yet to replace my ring but i can see it has degraded some, so dont use a ring that has sentimental value).Any piece of gold will work my ring is only 4 karats so it need not be a pure piece of gold although this would be symbolic of pure intent it would also be expensive.

you will need ten times the weight of your gold in filtered rain water. When making a condensers try to collect thunder storm rainwater before it hits the ground in a non metal container, because it will have been charged by the storm.
once you have this water heat your gold until it is red hot, and drop it into the water. the water is going to go crazy so be careful not to scald yourself. once the water has settles collect the ring with a heat proof glass ladle. repeat this process six more times. at the end of this the water will be charged and saturated with gold atoms from the contracting metal.pour into a glass container and store for your magical use, seven drops would be enough for a half cup of fluid condenser.

Fluid condensers;

you will need 2 oz of dried powdered plant matter from the corresponding planet which you wish to invoke in the potion. the plant matter should also be collected and prepared on the corresponding planets day of the week. place the powdered plant in a glass jar and before sunrise on the first day of the planet you wish to invoke after a new moon you will cover the herb with unadulterated grape brandy(4 oz or half a cup makes a single potion). seal the glass jar(if you are using a mason jar make sure that there is no metal parts exposed to the condenser, if you need to put plastic wrap over the mouth of the jar before sealing it do so.)and place it in a warm dark place for 28 days. filter the liquid into a dark glass bottle and add 7 drops of your tincture of gold. if you wish to enhance the potency make some sal salis out of plant matter that is associated with the planet and add it to your condenser.

the fluid condenser process can be used to make elemental condensers as well, just use a plant associated with the corresponding element.
