LBRP

Ok, so heres the thing. I've been working reading through Modern Magic and I've come to the part about the LBRP. The problem I have is that the ritual seems to be heavily based on god, but I don't really believe in god.

I believe in nature, I believe in the elements, but not in any god, in the idea of god, goddess, deity, and the sort. Soo, how does one do the LBRP w/o god, or is there no way?

Glim

You dont necessarily have to believe in God, so much as believe in that it works.

Think of it this way...you are borrowing the energies of those who do believe in God and who put their energies of faith into this, to accomplish your goal.

Believing in the diety used is not nearly as important as believeing in the purpose of and outcome of the ritual.

i would recommend resourcing some different books on this subject. if this book is the one i think it is, by donald michael kraig, he is not a very reliable source. he is more of a book salesman than a practitioner. he has put out a book of every kind of "magic" that one could think of, and generally they are all the same book with different themes. he has devised a definite format for selling "magic manuals".

the names to vibrate, as well as all the archangels, have a very complex matrix of symbolism that lay over them. the nature of divinity in the hermetic arts is not that of the monotheistic theologies that have risen up around the kabbalah. it is more a connection to the divine self that resides in all of us and is emanated from the conscious universal mind.

think of divinity as a philosophical symbol of the perfect self. this may help to reconcile your beliefs with your practice of this ritual. also worthy of note here is that the lesser banishing ritual of the pentagram is just one aspect of the ritual of the pentagram. there is a lesser and greater version, as well as a banishing and invoking version, for each element. it is a very basic foundation that one builds all other ceremonial magic upon.

It is the one by Kraig.

Thanks all for the advice, all in all I was thinking of using nature instead of the god names, only problem is what those words be.

Tapping into others beliefs of god is deff an interesting way to look at it, deff not something I'd think of anytime soon lol.
