Not to make sweeping generalizations, but almost always movies are horribly inaccurate when it comes to magic. They are for entertainment, not instruction. So, no.

If any of that stuff were real, I think we would be in for a LOT of trouble. Lightning bolts and transformation are a lot more fun to watch than someone intently tying knots in a string and chanting, even for someone who understands what real magick is.

I wish , but dont you think if these spells were real some idiot would probably be running around trying to smite everyone in their path , it would ruin the whole mystery of magic.
