I have seen this too many times, people who think they know everything about magic, what can be done, and what can not be done. This just fills me with such a rage. Do they really have to feed their egos so much that they tear down anyone who they consider "Fluffy". There is so much can't, no, nope, won't work, that it will make people start thinking it, then the true arts of magic will be lost. I don't know much, what I do know is, anything is possible and those who think they know everything are nothing but fools. Now I have one last thing to add, what gives you the right to say it can't be done. I read a topic on here about a person asking about a grow wing spell on this site and all the people could say was it was impossible to grow wings, they had nothing to say about the spell or anything, just kept going on and on about how it is not possible. Only the gods/goddess know what can and can't be done, so let all the hate mail come ^^
You said so yourself that you are new. You have to understand that there are things that are not physically possible. I hope that you do not see this as a post from an all knowing person. I was new too. But sometimes the more experienced people can say what is or is not possible. You have to be willing to learn from others and unlearn things that you think you know. Try to take this to heart.

Magic can do many things. Some things it cannot. Nothing magical works against the Natural order of things. If you think that anything is possible, try running through a brick wall. Nobody knows everything about any subject, not just about magic. But it is the aim, if not duty!, on a site such as this, for the older more experienced members to guide the beginners towards what can be achieved by magic, and what is impossible.

I just want to say I agree with Brysing, and ill add something of my own here.
As offended as you are when people question the realms of magic, others are equally as offended when someones view point on magic is to shoot fireballs, morph into a vampire, grow wings, with no real interest on it as an art, or even taking time to just simply look at the basics.

I agree with the above posts.
And I would like to add that magick isn't about parlor tricks. If you desire to create such illusions than you should remove the "k" from magic and begin studying stage magic.
Such things are considered an insult to an art that is wrapped around the ways of nature. Very little if anything in magick is unnatural. There is no such thing as "supernatural" in a magickal practioners eyes. There is physical nature and spiritual nature. Both run off of different laws and principles. When you see extreme physical manifestations of magick in movies or books, they are causing the spiritual aspects of magick to seem physical when they never have been.
Magick can and does influence the physical world. No magick user will deny that. If they did, there wouldn't be a point in practicing. But you must understand how it does.
You may go right ahead and try to sprout wings. But how many who try and can't will be discouraged from magick? If they are notified early by people with years of experience in magick that it isn't going to happen, they will be more likely to continue learning and begin using magick for what it was intended for.

vos vos vos understanding reality gives me the right to clam things possible or not. magick aids us in our everyday life. It is used to boost a persons situation for the better. a longing desire for wings or to turn into a creature does not help the caster in no shape or form to live better. those that desire such things suffer from low self esteem in some way and needs to appreciated their own worth and value (personally I try to refrain from responding to those threads in fear of being too mean in a response, so I know you are not referring to me). there are gray areas though, cause the references to the capabilities of magick gets mixed in with imagination, fantasy, and the rhetoric from occult's biggest opposition. yes, it may appear harsh to get repeated answers of "it cant happen" but this is a open forum and people are expressing there honest answer to save the thread starter's time

I will start a new thread to try and explain what we mean by "the natural order". Witchcraft was, and to some extent still is, akin to Alchemy. The difference being that witches tended to "study" nature, whilst Alchemists performed "experiments". Both were seeking "truth", and with a great deal of success.
