I read the post reguarding making your own spells but it didnt go in depth enough for me, so I was wondering if one of you would be kind enough to post a simple example spell you've made before so I have something to base my first makings after. I would also be most grateful if someone could direct me to the site sections that give details as to what all the different moon shapes, herbs (and other tools), and candles different abilitys are.

You must first learn what a spell actually is. A spell is a ritual wish. Many people cast spells without knowing it. A Catholic may light a candle in church, and then say a prayer, asking for help. He has cast a spell!
Ever blown out the candles on a cake and made a wish? You have cast a spell. Ever pulled a wishbone? That's another spell.
The difference between a prayer and a spell is that a prayer is asking a higher power (Deity) for help; a spell is a do-it-yourself process.
Those are "simple" spells. Really serious spells are harnessing your own inner energy with that of the Earth's energy. By no means as easy as it sounds!
The notion that spells you create yourself are the best is not a notion that everyone agrees with. That phrase is commonly spouted off on this webiste but not so much in the magical community in general.
In fact, if you're a beginner, you are far better off doing spells from a reputable source: a good spellbook, spell kit, a traditional folk spell, etc. That way you gain experience by following directions from others who have gone before.
If you were a beginner cook, you would follow many recipes before you gained the experience to go out and make up your own dishes - same thing with magic.
Well what books would you recommend? I also already understand that spells are a ritual prayer of sorts asking the gods for the power to do the spell your set on.
a spell for beginners is usualy quite long once you have total faith in your spells just a couple of words will do.my most used spell is only 4 words and i feel it work.
Hearing a prayer as opposed to doing your bidding are two separate things. It is not for humans to know the will of God/dess and the divine order of the Universe.
Prayer is asking for help, god will help anyone who's in danger from evil spirits and by saying archangel michael will help me and protect me will boost a persons confidence and its used in psychology its about positive thinking and if you believe in something strongly enough there's more of a chance of it happening
