In a late celebration of my mother's birthday (because we're all busy), something strange happened. After my mother blew the candle in her cake, a little ball of light floated for at least 15 seconds. Then the light got weaker then it was all gone... Can someone tell me what it is?
One possibility could be that the ball of light was a spirit. Some entities may appear as light when trying to manifest in the physical world. Some people may say there was an angel which is a possibility.
was it onl;y you who saw it, and where exactly was the light? if it was near the candles, it was probably just a smolder. if it was, say, behind your mother and a few feet away, then i could be a spritit, maybe an angel like brockware said. if it was a certain colour it could have been a faerie. what colour was it?

Sounds like a tiny piece of wick flew up into the air. It went out when the flame had nothing more to burn. Have you ever burned wood in an actual fireplace or campfire? Or burned paper? If you did, you'd know that a little wind can cause a piece of the burning material to spark or fly out and float. Usually the ember goes out before it hits the ground unless its big and comes down faster.
If that doesn't make sense, then perhaps your mother's wish was answered.
Regardless of which, I would take it as a good sign.

it actually floated slowly behind me, I actually watched it float from the candle to my back. I also think that I am the only one who saw it.

I think there would be no wind, because we celebrated inside our house. But I would take that as a possibility.
But it was odd for a person who is easily scared by those kind of things like me to just looked at it without being scared. And I almost forgot, while i was watching it, it feels like I'm meditating.
This sounds to me like it could be a spirit. Spirits often appear as simple balls of light since that is, you could say, more like their "true form." A physical appearance is pointless outside the material plane, but is often used by spirits so the living can relate easier. My guess, just at a glance of the details, would be that the spirit was an old friend, relative, or possibly although less likely a pet that your mother had for awhile just passing through to say Happy Birthday.
That would not really be as uncommon as some might think. Spirits have also been known to return to their grave site upon the anniversary of their death for a variety of reasons.

You might have a spirit in your house. Did you see the ball of light after your Mom's birthday? It could be stopping by, or maybe just left for a while. Spirits tend to come and go. At least, this is how it is at my house. I had one for about a week or two, and a second one stop by last night.

Sorry, I meant to say stopped. Also, what I meant about having a spirit around for a week or two was that it was the only one in my house for a week or two until the next one stopped by.
