The spirit realms are generally descrided as dimensions or planes distinguished by the different densities and vibration rate the substances they contain, and the various dimensions are said to interpenetrate, existing in the same space. Different people have divided these infinite realms into different hinders of vibrating regions and various names have been used by different people to differentiate amount these regions. For most of Us living in the physical world and preoccupied by its material comforts, those are concepts so it may be easier to visualize the spiritual planes when you concentrate.
The physical plane is composed comparatively dense, slowly vibrating matter.
The astral planes are generally divided into the lower, middle, and higher, although each actually contains many, many divisions of varying of vibration rates. After we shed our physical body, most of us reportedly "wake up" in our astral body living in the specific astral plane in which substance is vibrating at the same rate as the substance of our astral body.
1: Astral Projection
2: Lucid Dream
3: Meditation
4: OBEs on command- which is when some people can leave their body by sitting anywhere, even in public places, without meditating. Don't ask me how cause I'm trying find out how to do that.
5: Death Experience
I meditate in the shower, weird but it's the only place I get any peace and alone time. I always see myself in a gazebo on top of a mountain with a waterfall that runs down to a castle and connects to a mote. .-. Is that like astral projection?
Entering the astral plane through meditation is just another of astral projection so yes but deep levels meditation can trigger an astral projection without you having the intention of leaving your body

I can do this and I know a few who can as well. I'm not sure what it is called, I've heard a few terms though, like etheric projection but that varies. It requires you to be able to induce trance while moving. I suggest trying to use dance, yoga, or rhythmic movement (like beating a drum or drawing a circle) while entering a trance and then this sort of projection will be easier. When this is done, you're more likely to be seen as a "spirit" to a physical person. And when you see or feel someone who is doing this, anyone who senses you might think there is a physical person in the room at first.
It is hard to explain. When you do this, you're not as fully "there" at first, you have to continue to focus, but can become fully there as your body relaxes and you forget about your body. You tend to "twitch" more when doing it without trance because the tie between mind and body isn't as separated as when doing serious journeying under full relaxation. It is a lot like mental projection (aka remote viewing) except once you see where you want to be, you pull yourself there. I've heard my way is called the "anchor technique" although I never read of it before doing it. It takes practice in AP first in my opinion, because you need to know how it feels to leave and AP is easier for beginners.
