yes. we try to attain a connection with all the elements. people are usually born with two they share a closer bond with the first being you're born under and the second the one you feel close with. [example i love water, i grew up near the sea, i do a lot of swimming, i work well with potions, so my second would be water] we all have one or two traits of all the elements, work on creating a bond with them so you can work in balance.
Ok, except how do you know what your element is? Because I had a dream that there was fire and ice around me, and whenever I touched them, I could control them and yet still allow them to partially control me, but the way it felt was really peaceful and happy, even though I was in a cavern-like place in my dream.
like i said, we try to connect with all the elements, it just we are born closer certain ones. the first is your birth elelemt. whatever your zodiac sign is will determine what you're born under. if like me you fall under a transition day [the 2-3 day gap where one zodiac shifts into the next] you were born under two and it can shift as your get older. as a child i was connected with fire, but as i grew my connection weakened and i grew closer to the earth element from my second zodiac sign. the second is the one you seem to share an interest in, you're comfortable using, and being around. are you happiest in a certain type of weather [rainy, hot, windy, foggy] do you enjoy a certain area, temperature, instrument, activity, so on. these should help you figure out which element you're closest with.
sometimes dreams are just dreams, other times it could be telling us something; fire and ice are opposing forces, with you in the middle it could be balance, two parts of yourself, ying and yang. fire is passionate, but fierce and angry, ice is cold and can represent emotional repression. these two things together could indicate an internal struggle instead of your elements.
for the first one just look up what your zodiac sign's element is. the second one, i suggest meditating. for fire, meditate by a candle or bonfire, air on a windy day, near an open window or in a meadow/open valley where you can be surrounded by the element, earth in the forest and water by [of course] a body of water. just sit and listen, see if you feel/hear/see anything while meditation that could indicate a connection. this is a good idea to do even if you have discovered the elements you're connected with because, as i said, we should connect with them all. there are just certain ones we naturally have a stronger bond with.
