I am a new member here and I am looking to experiment/dabble in spell casting and manifestation. I am not a witch/warlock, nor do I follow any particular path. But for as long as I can remember, I have been interested in utilizing magick - unfortunately at times my "faith" in magick is shaky. I'm neither a believer or non believer. But I'm here to try things out and draw my own conclusions from trying things out. Throwing myself into magick and seeing how things play out.
So, I suppose that introduction shall suffice, hahaha!

One does not "dabble" in magick. It is done for a purpose; rituals for honor and celebration, spells for intent, etc. Learn this and you should do fine.
What books or techniques would you recommend for the beginner? I actually have the first book in Christopher Penczak's "The temple of witchcraft series". It's called "The Inner Temple of Witchcraft". I've held onto this book for some years now. Though I purchased it for the meditation tips, not really the magick aspect.
Some years ago I had been meditating on a fairly regular basis and had my intent set on specefic things to occur. I was SO filled with the idea of this experience I became fixated. Eventually it manifested, and it manifested in droves. After that experience, I soon came to understand vaguely how magick is done on some level. Vaguely, but on the most important first level nonetheless. Without those experiences I wouldn't be on this site, haha!
Utilizing magick, regardless of belief or tradition,or simply embracing a tradition or faith(or creating one) for long enough for your efforts to manifest is greatly explained in chaos magick and i think with you current experience you might like it.
Here are some good essays if you are interested:

Chaos magick can sometimes be confusing so take one step at the time.
Also if you have the time i suggest energy working/manipulation since its very popular and an cornerstone of many magick systems.
Thank you for the introduction to Chaos Magick. I have heard of it, like I have heard of many forms of magick, but I hadn't invested time in reading up on it.I actually built up my own idea of what it could be, and now I see I was totally mistaken, hahaha.
I would not begin to recommend books to someone else. I find most modern books to be overopiniated and stagnent. You will have to decide for yourself which books do and do not apply to your beliefs. Sorry I can bot be more helpful.
