How does one make a wand? And how do we use it?

Wands can be used for circle casting, directing energies, or inviting spirits into your circle.You can make one by getting a small branch or tree limb and then sanding and shaping it the way you want it to look. You can even add crystals and other decorative items to it. How you make it look and the shape and design are all up to you. They also have some for sale here on the site, so you could always buy one too.

Which tree would be best?

Depends what you will be using the wand for really. If you cast protection, curses, luck, love, so on, more than others you might want to look into a wood that works well with that type of energy. Oak, hickory, cherry, apple are a couple common wands. Mine is made from lilac, and a friend uses maple, it just depends.

The key to a wand is the connection. All tools should be an extension of ourselves, which is why many recommend making your tools if possible. For wands many feel you should connect with the tree, ask permission and leave a gift as thanks. Using a random stick or choosing a random tree and snapping a branch off can effect the energy of the wand negatively.
