The slight story behind this is (from what he told me) the girl in the relationship is his ex-girlfriend and he wants her back.

I'm going to say the same thing I did when you mailed me.

What if that girl discovers that you were the one behind them fighting and breaking up? Even if you wanted her back, she won't want you back if she realizes you have done so.

There could be serious repercussions if you use a spell to break up a couple because it messes with free will. Think about it this way: Would you want it done to you?

The only way I could see a spell like this being justified is if one of the people in the couple were seriously abusing the other.
