Question about magic preparation
By:
Hi so im new to magic but very seriously want to get into it. I am by nature naturally determined and self motivating. How ever to begin my magical journey I need guidance and guidelines as to how I should prepare to start my journey I am already aware that meditation is a key element by what else should I do, recommended time. beginner spells etc. Im interested in green magics such as internal healing of ones self and healing others. Elemental, lifting and moving of objects and also learning to connect with other beings (eg.pets) alive or the dead. im not interested in summonings at the moment... Thanks in advance

Grounding, centering, energy work, visualization, understanding casting, and like you said, meditation.

A good foundation is made up of a number of topics. Search the articles here for "basics" on the upper right hard corner of the screen and you're on your way. There are a number of basic topics in all of the above and herbalism also

You may also want to look into joining a coven but before you do, read around the coven's pages first and find one that aligns with what you want to learn.

Well, if you're serious about learning how to do magic and with starting from the rock-bottom then you don't start out by casting spells, you start out by learning how and why magic works.

You see, there is no such thing as an "easy" spell or a "beginner" spell. One either understands how magic works and has mastered the basics...in which case the magic will work..or you haven't done that sort of work..and no spell will work no matter how "easy" it seems.

Casting a successful spell involves much more than finding some spell on the internet or in a book, saying some words, lighting a candle, waving a wand of any of that sort of thing. In order for magic to work you need to understand how and why it works in the first place. Grounding and centering, visualization, focus and intent, energy manipulation, etc are all necessary first steps to even begin to have a chance at a spell actually working...and more importantly to prevent a spell from back-firing on you.

So, my advice for anyone who is truly serious is to start by reading a few books and practicing the exercises those books will give you. Once you have mastered the basics you won't need anyone to give you spells, you'll be able to create your own spells that will be far more effective than anything you find on the net. Here's the books I suggest:

"Before You Cast a Spell" by Carl McColman

"Spells and How They Work" by Janet and Stewart Farrar

"The Veil's Edge" by Willow Polson

"Modern Magick" by Donald Michael Kraig

If none of these spells have worked for you, you know nothing of how to cast a spell and possibly you know nothing of the basics either.

It is true that more than 70 percent of the spells on here do not work, but there are some that do and in order to see which ones work, you must start with the basics and researching what magic truly is and how it truly works.

You can research the basics in the forums or by using the search bar in the upper right hand corner. The basics are, but are not limited to, meditation, centering, grounding, energy manipulation and visualization.

Study these for a year or until you have a good grasp of the basics and magic itself, then you can perhaps try your first spell, but it is suggested that you write your own spells, since they have a higher chance of working.

Consider asking help of a deity with your works aswell.
You may want to read philosophical theories on magick. It will make you think for yourself on magick.
